Minimium idle speed?

I am attempting to set my minimium idle speed and I am having some problems. I want my minimium idle speed at 600 RPM to keep the car from stalling when I put it into gear at idle when the engine is hot (when the car is cold it is fine). When the car is warm the engine dies before the IAC has time to react. If I rev the engine slightly and then put it into gear the IAC has enough time to react and the car keeps idleing. The problem I am having is that the minimium idle speed is very touchy. After I ground the diagonistic connector and unplug the IAC I can get the car to idle only by opening the throttle until the idle is at 1000 RPM. When I reduce the minimium idle speed screw to set the idle at 600 RPM the idle speed becomes very sensitive to small changes. The car will be idleing at 800 RPM and a small 1/8 turn of the minimium idle speed screw will drop the idle to 600 RPM and it becomes rough ( I am assuming the cam is causing this, the TPS is fine). I will then reconnect the IAC and let the computer control the idle at 800 RPM. The problem is that it will still stall if I put it into drive at idle? I cannot seem to get the correct setting. Maybe I need a custom chip to compensate for the cam? Maybe I need to disconnect my ignition advance before I attempt to set the minimium idle speed. The ignition advance may be effecting the idle speed more the the IAC causing it to stall. What are your opinions?
Thanks

I repied to this on another post which hopefully you can find. If it's a TPI car you need to correctly set minimum air. My car also would stall when put into gear because the IAC motor was not in the right range at idle. Once properly adjusted, no more stalling and the engine settles back to an idle much more smoothly such as when coming to a stopsign. It used to surge and almost stall until I got this properly adjusted. Good luck!
