*** hates my IROC..Help

Ok. I just replaced my altenator. Then, today, I was coming out of school when a kid cut me off. And my car died. Now, it just sits there and cranks. It wont fire..Whats the deal? Is it the Coil? Maybe the fuel pump. Im pissed, and stumped.

The first thing you need to do is find out whether you are missing spark, fuel, or both. Reply with what you find out and we'll help.

Ok. After it sits for a few hours it will start right back up. Its weird. And if you try to crank it when it wont start the engine just starts to shake really bad. Oh, Before it dies out the rpm's will drop really quick then it will give a high rev. Then, it will die out and wont start. I dont know whats going on here. I didnt do it for about a week. And, it just started again today.
Im thinking fuel pump?

Hmm. I think this problem exceeds my experience.

However, there are still some things you can tell me.

When you're cranking but it wont start up, see if you're getting spark through each wire. Take off a wire at a time, stick a spare plug or screw in it (something metal that will stay in the boot), and hold it closely (1/8 inch) to a bare metal part of the engine. If you crank it and see an arc between the wire and the engine, you're getting spark to that plug. Also try to notice if they're firing in a consistent pattern.

Goto Autozone and pick up a NOID light. They'll know what it is. It'll tell you if your injectors are firing while you crank.

See what you get from these tests and come back.

I had that same problem when I first got my 91 rs to fix i replaced the Distributor/ Ignition module under the cap and rotor.
I think it was 25 dollars from autosuck.
