Can I use a continuity tester instead of a noid light to test and see if my injectors are firing? I`m getting spark, got fuel in the rails, but the f*cker won`t start!
A test light might help ya. ...continuity is for testing resistance...assume you mean your DVM/DMM? If so, you may not actually see the the voltage rise and fall because they don't react fast enough. Depends on the meter, some have a voltage bar that reacts quicker than the numbers can be updated.
Noid lights are pretty cheap though, last I saw them at AutoZone, I think they were about 10 bucks.

so multimeters dont output real time info? ive been telling everyone on coloradok5 that they do.
Most meters nowdays are digital, plenty good for constant DC voltage, problem is they don't update the LCD readout very vast...unless you get a highend one...so trying to see 12volts/then 0volts switch at 2ms, is tough to see...more like a "flicker" of the number.
A lot of meters incorporate a "bar" on the bottom of the readout...watching the bar swing, (kinda like an AF meter) tells you the volatge is changing.
I haven't looked at meter for 2-3 years, but we (my company) still by Flukes and they're still slow to respond to quick switching DC voltage...maybe automotive DMM/DVM's are able to catch the signal like a Oscope...not sure, last time I priced them (many years ago) was too much for me to consider buying.

I've heard test lights can have effects on the QD's in the ECM, since the bulbs only have a ohm or two of resistance...I guess it's true...could draw too much current from the QD's, not sure.
You also need to be careful puching into sockets and wires as well.
If I needed one, I'd just pop for the extra Lincoln...besides, eventually you'll use the test light for something else, bend it, braek it, etc....not much you can do with a noid light except test injectors;
Went and got a noid light and found out my injectors were not firing. Idiot me forgot to wire up the injector driver grounds in the ecm connectors. So I got fire to the injectors now but it still won`t start. Is there a way to test the pickup in the dizzy or would that even be it since i`m getting spark? I`m ready to get this POS on the road again.
Theres a reason I keep a DMM and an ol skool analog MM in my toolbox. The analog one is MUCH more sensitive to miniscule and infrequent changes than the DVM. sometimes digital tech isnt the best. a full sweep needle can help you read the tea leaves sometimes
