VSS Wiring 1985 TPI swap into 86 CCC

I picked up another 86 Firebird, with the CC carb. I got a tuned port system from a 1985 I believe a Camaro, and I'm knee-deep in the swap.

Here's what I have done so far:
Dropped the tank and installed a v6 EFI sending unit with a 3.8L TTA pump installed.
Installed 90% of the wiring
Lower manifold and fuel rail installed
Serpentine accy system installed
Fabbed fuel lines to work with TPI motor

The wiring was pulled out of all of the looming (NOT by me) and it's been more fun than allowed by law figuring it all out. I'm confused as to where the VSS plug is, and whether or not I need to fab something up somehow. This car has an electric sending unit already... Do I need to run wires for it? Thanks in advance.

I believe i figured it out. It looks like I have to run the VSS plug with the new harness. It looks like it goes into what I assume is a buffer box, which looks like it feeds back to the ECM.

Any other thoughts?

It should be a brown wire. On my Monte SS, I just did the 86 to 89 TPI swap on her and on what Painless calls the dash harness, there is a brown wire that is for the VSS. Mine was real close to the computer itself. I am not sure if this helps any.

There is a brown wire inside. The ones I'm referring to are pinkish purple and yellow. I noticed they did not go to the ecm on the 86's ccc harness... looks like they went to a buffer box, to which the brown wire comes out of.

but thanks for the info!

You are on the right track. The purple and yellow wires go to your electronic vss. For more help, there's a good tech article on this site that deals with adding an electrical speedo to firebirds. The article will help you with the buffer box info also.
