plenum bolt location

I recently pulled my intake to replace the intake gaskets and i noticed on the plenum bolts there were a few differant sizes. There are mostly the smaller bolts with threads all the way to the head of the bolt, then there are a few that are a little longer that the threads stop a liitle before the head then there is one longer bolt. I know most of the small bolts go in the thinner parts of the plenum runners and the longest bolts go in the thickest part of the runners and the medium bolts go opposite the rest of them on the right front and the left rear but im not sure of the one longer one. Does anyone know of a diagram that shows the lengths of the bolts and where they go?

without a service manual.. take one of the runners (off the car) an put the bolts through the holes so they al stick out the other side of of the holes evenly.
then you will have 2 left over that go through the base and screw into the runners..

Re: plenum bolt location

. I had the same issue too but I quikly sat in my Thinking Chair and whipped out my Notepad along with my enlarged crayon and yelled out Blue!!! Blue!!! where are you. Then Blue slapped me behind the head and said think!!! I then got the longest bolts and made a comparision from the base of the runners. I knew that if I put the long bolts into certain holes, it would probably bottom out. So I just decided to put the long bolts on the front and the rear of the runners where the bolts screw through the manifold, thus relieving the thought of bottoming out. Use the longest for the holes that drive through, the medium on the bulky runner base, and the shorties for the top section where the runners bolt into the plenum. Good luck bro.

Re: plenum bolt location

my process took a little longer but it worked, i just went in order of length shortest to longest and found the one that caught the threads. there was one that needed the longest one that the second to longest will fit in but it only catches like two threads.

Re: plenum bolt location

Thanks for all the help but im really looking for the way the factory had them not trying to figure out where they fit. So if anyone has taken it apart and noted the exact location of these bolts from the factory please let me know. I know im picky but id like them back to the factory locations. I should have marked them but i didnt realize there was a oddball bolt. Thanks again.

Re: plenum bolt location

Ok. Its your vehicle and I respect that. I myself am trying to get my IROC into its factory form. Checkout the bolts that I used for my intake runners. I wanted to keep the same style of bolts just like that tiny ones that are used for the inside of the Camaro, as well as the throttlebody.
