Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Sorry for the lack of updates! I have gotten a few more things done, the body is 99% done(emblems and paint touch ups left) and have been working on bracing the Supercharger. It's not quite as firmly mounted as I would like, so we are working for solutions on that. Then I have to get the tune worked on some more and paint touch-ups from dentfix. Hope to do a 9" and custom gauges over the winter....
Anyway, here are some pictures of recent activity!
Installing the body work after getting it back from paint....

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
After getting the normal stuff back on I moved to the wings and flaps!
Rear diffuser installed
Front splitter on(Has 5-6 brackets behind it that hold it on....)
Installing the side skirts. they were riveted on before, BUT I didn't like that so we installed some riveted in threaded inserts that allow both sides to be easily installed or removed if need be.
Done
Overall on the lift, but done shot...

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Coy(bananaman's son) and I made a bracket to bolt onto the supercharger and then bolt it to the Vortech to try and cut down on Supercharger movement. It helped, but we are looking at another option to add just a little more support. We also have a plate to put on the front of the blower pulley to try and keep it from walking off the front(even though we don't THINK it is....
Sorry for a couple blackberry pictures(Bracket is just installed. It will be removed for powder coating/paint soon )......
Couple updated shots from the Toys for Tots cruise-in.

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Here ya go...
It's 11" long, 4.5" wide with a 2 3/4" hole in it. The hole is 1" from the front of the hook. It's attached by 3 bolts at the rear. Holes for these three bolts are drilled directly in the subframe(which required the front lip of it to be shaved away). I hope that helps.
BTW, your Forza car looks a LOT like mine. I am getting Froza for Christmas. Any way you can post some pictures of it or get it to me when I get my game set up?

Yeah I'm trying to make it how I want mine. Even down to the azure blue paint. I however don't want trim and other little things. As far as pictures go, I have lots on my phone that I can email you. Or I could try and put them on photobucket just pm me. I could next time I'm on, try and build your car on forza. Front splitter, 19s and maybe even the power. Maybe even tune it and send you the file when you get the game.

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
Got the car back from Mayhem and have been working on the tune myself and it's going pretty well. I bad O2 was part of the reason I as having so much trouble with it! So, I'm going to do a little more then get it back to Mayhem and get it dialed in at WOT. Also, before that I want to make another brace. The one we have seems to be helping, but it still moves a little, so we are going to try and fab something from the bottom of the supercharger as well.
In other news for the Iroc I just picked up this COMPLETE LT1 T/A with a 6-speed. The 6-speed will be going in the Iroc along with a 9" rear!
I almost hate to take this car apart. Its a hard-top 93 T/A with 160k. It is original down to the airbox/exhaust/radio! Paint and drivers seat are a little rough, but besides a small skip sometimes(LT1s came with those from the factory) it runs GREAT!

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
U might not want to use the 93 t56, I've heard they have some quirks to them. It could just be hearsay but id do my research before I tore the 93 apart.

Re: 1987 Supercharged TPI w/ megasquirt/complete repaint build thread
They have different gear ratios(lower which is OK) and thus the reason they were rated at a lower horsepower than the 94 and later. Other than that they are the exact same. Since I am staying with low(numerically) gearing I won't mind the slightly lower geared 6th gear.
IF anyone has any other input that is great, but I'm 99% sure I'm correct!

LS1Tech, Tech Addict (and the masses)
"The gear ratio is the only difference and that is what makes the later version stronger."
It seems the 93 gear ratio's are much more desirable though. From the quick search I did I've seen comments of a Caprice pushing 450-500 having no problems with the 93 T56.

No idea honestly. The car is still running and driving now. I may drive it for a little while, who knows.
If I part it you will be first in line for the LT1. Need wiring, ECM, or just the engine itself?
