Yes it stays running while cranking. So what kind of wires should i be checking? im going out now and gonna try to fig out any bad wiring.

I cant set the timing cuz the van wont run long enough to set it. it starts right up though with no problem.

Do you know the voltage from the iac plug? if i had an iac tester light, i think it would light up cuz theres 6.2 volts at the wires.

When i did the ohm test, i got more than 20ohms. does that make it bad? too much resistance? Ohms test A-B=48.2 C-D=49.1

I dont quite understand what you mean here, "I've found a few IAC valves lately that are stripped, IAC counts move in data and pintle does not."

Watching your video looks like you have Ignition Power in Crank Key Position and not in Run Key Position. Check your ECM Pink wires for Power in Key on, may just be Crank.

Was this an EFI van before conversion? If not I use the wire to points or distributor (Resistor removed) to trigger a relay with Ignition Power.

IAC has a gear drive, it strips. But until uou get above fixed it's not an issue.

ill check the pink wires for power. i have an extra pink wire from my fuse block, not quite sure where it goes. it has like 2.5v in on position.

you don't need to use the buffered signal through c207. The schematic you posted for your van the cruise will be separate from your tpi wiring. B1 and c16 orange wire of the ecm is SAM battery 12v , A6 pnk/blk is switched power to the ignition switch.

By the looks of these schematics, B1 and c16 are on the same circuit(340) so i can just connect the two if i have power to B1? theyll be on the same circuit?

Im working on verifying all the pink/blk wires. i think some of my circuits arent on the right fuse. i found a couple yesterday. like the B1 wasnt connected.

yes you can connect them together and just run a 14 gauge or larger.

I just connected one from the fuse block, then tapped into it near the ECM. Just soldered them together.

I found an orn/black wire with 12v ign, but for my van diagram, I don't see what it goes too. Any ideas?

What if the orange wire to power the ECM is only putting out like 3-5 volts?? I have to double check, but I remember removing the ECM fuse to ensure that the orange wire was for that fuse, it was, but I think it had less than 12 v.

thats way to low of a voltage to the orange wire. I cannot find were it is stated but I assume one is for stay alive memory and the other would be used in the conversion for the 5v references and iac. do you have the schematic pic for your van again, I think it was deleted.

im not sure if its switched maybe power to the old esc module but thats typically pink\blk.

Both orange wires have 12v constant. one is connected to the relays and the other to A8 and c16.
I also have 2 pink wires, one isnt connecteds to anything and it puts out about 2.5 v.

what i really need is an informative diagram of the under dash harness c207. not the "austinthirdgen" one cuz it does explain the wires well.

im about to "start fresh" and figure out this damn wiring issue. i have a good diagram for my van, and a decent one for the three plugs too the ecm, but c207 is confusing.

i looked at my 90 factory service manual and its the same a austinthirdgen. i think you will have to reference back to the fuel injection schematic and see if there is any spots that say c207. I can seem to figure out what your orange/blk wire is.

The pink wire that i was talking about that only has about 2.5v or so, is it possible that it goes to the distributor? It looks like theres a pink fused 3amp in this diagram.(Never mind, i looked at it wrong, the 3 means the circuit#) What do you think?

yeh it looks like its circuit #3 to verify if that is the dizzy power pull the fuse and see if you still have power. If this was tbi You should of had 12v to the distributor though.

12v to the pink wire at the 2 coil plugs? one of the plugs pink wire is 12v and the other is not. should it have 12v?

the grey housing connector that plugs into the coil the pink wire should have 12v and so should the pink wire on the jumper that goes over to the icm. atleast I think the icm gets feed 12v.

The grey plug's pink wire does get 12v. i wasnt getting 12v to the other connector's pink wire. i think i have some pink, pnk/blk, and orange wires not in the correct location. im gonna start volt testing them, then pull the fuse to ensure theyre on the correct circuit.

if you have 12v at the wire going to the coil the resistance in the coil across those 2 leads is 0-.4 ohms so the volt drop will be verry little.

with the key on there should be little to no difference between the voltage on both pink wires. they are tied together in the coil.

ok, heres the wiring ive done
Both injector wires from c207(B&G) to ECM1 fuse

Ive connected F and C from C207, along with egr and other sensors to the Gauges Fuse

Ive connected prl/wht from crank fuse to the prl/wht of the dizzy

Ecm B fuse to B1&C16 Orange

Fuel Fuse to relays orange

Connected the P/N wire under colum org/blk

Connected all ecm grounds to heads.

it seems like it should start.

uhhh c is for the mil lamp the ground side
the purple and white on the icm is the 5v square wave signal back to the ecm pin d8
you might have just smoked the icm

oops, what does mil mean? and it was confusing cuz it came out of the c207 but looped back down through the harness and not to the ecm(hence the neg side) my bad.

So where does the ppl/wht wire go? nothing is spliced into the ppl/wht at the harness? if this fried it, i have a warranty for the icm. haha. i hope i can get this soon. i have a decent understanding of these wiring systems now. could learn more always though.

ok, so for my van, the ppl/wht wire is from the crank fuse and is supposed to go to the c9 pin of my original van ecm. it says at c9 its for "crank in" and its circuit 806 for my van.

mil mean malfunction indicator lamp, or check engine light or also called ses service engine soon or idiot light. lol the mil lamp is powered on one side and the ecm grounds the other side. I will look at the schematic maybe I mis understood what wire you were talking about.

C9- ppl/wht- Starter crank signal. Goes to the solenoid on your van wiring. It wil send out 12v just during cranking. Im not sure what the purpose of it is it might be a tickle wire for a c3 ecm.

This seems odd to me cuz there is already a prpl white to the solenoid of the crank. in my van diagram it says it goes straight from crank fuse to ecm c9. no stops in between. should i disregard it then?

im gonna end up with a bunch of 12v ignition wires everywhere. haha

I would disregard that. If you look at a 1227747 ecm schematic you will see a more detailed picture of it. it tell the ecm you are cranking the engine to enable the computers cranking fuel table this is not used on your 730 ecm.

Sounds like the engines knocking, have you tried advancing the timing some ?
Do you mean it's just doing what it is in the video starting for a second and dying ?
If you think it's the ecm shutting off injector pulse check for power with the key on to the ecm pin a6

i havent set the timing yet. but Yes, it will only stay running when the key is turned to cranking. it will die as soon as i let the key go even if im giving it gas. im pretty possitive that A6 is getting power but ill check Right Now. 12v right?

yep, all checks out. 12v with key on at A6, also when i crank it, it drops a little then goes back up while im cranking.
Also the two orange wires that power the ecm are getting 12v with key on and while cranking.

the iac is still 6.3v at A,B,C,D with aldl jumped A&B. not sure why its at 6v...

Any other checks you can think of?

It has spark. when i give it gas and hold the key all the way, it stays running, but if i let the key go, and hold the gas, it wont stay running. its contingent on holding the key over.

So advancing the timing isn't helping any ?
And is there power at the coil with the key to the on position ?
And did you swap out the fuel pump yet ?

its not knocking anymore. i had to hold the phone to record so i could hold the dizzy in the right place.

yes theres power to the coil and i did replace the pump and check the fuel pressure. i think its the ecm. im doing all these checks from this site and it looks like its the ecm.http://www.hotrodlane.cc/ONLINETECH/TPIwontstart.html
