speedo question and harness questions

i have an 89 rs with a 700r4. i pulled my engine and tranny beacuse i got a new motor going in (sbc 400) and i am rebuilding the tranny. i noticed i have two harnesses that go to the tranny; one square one with 4 wires (i know where this goes) and one with only 2 wires. i cannot figure out where this one goes though. it doesnt look like it was even hooked up to anything. next question. do all 3rd gen fbodies have a cable driven speedo? if not, what year did they change. the more i look at my car, the more i seem to think there were some changes made to it that werent noted (may have been in an accident, may have a different motor, may have a different tranny, etc). thanks.

The two wire connector that you cant find goes to the VSS sensor which is on the driver's side of the tailshaft.
