Can you guess what this is?
anyone but shagwell because he is the one who took it out.
me and shagwell pulled this out of my trans and i would like to know if anyone can tell me what it is out of the stock one is on the right and the one that came out is on the left and him and anyone who has ever rode in my car with me can tell you i have the hardest shifting transmission in every gear not just 1-2 i mean 2-3 and 3-4 not to brag but i just would like to know if they know what its from. Thanks Daniel

almost looks like a 727/904/a500/a518 accumulator spring. i ha also seen similar springs come out of th350 accumulator in the valve body but i don't think those are wound as tight.

ya no difference at all!!! i got the transmission from a guy that shagwell knew and the guy he got it from said dont ask any questions about how it is built just put it in and you will be happy with it well for the past 2 years i have been up in till 2 weeks ago on my way down to fort myers im cruising and i go to past car and speed up rpms go up the car doesnt go faster give it a couple of revs and shut her down and call shagwell to come and pick me up well pull it out and down and find that the rear planetary have all four gears with about an inch play and 2 pins about to fall out so go to 700raptor.com and i going to order the 5 gear planetary which is 25% stronger and a 2600 stall. i was going down there to put a BMR Torgue Arm and Alumium water pump and underdrive pulleys. i can wait to get it back cause she is going to be a dirty bitch when it comes up to central florida im going to be looking forward to LS1 races thanks Daniel

...I know what it is.... Yeah, deffinitely a HD accumulator spring. I think it's probably pounding the rear planet a little too hard though(maybe thats what all those little metal pieces are...) The 5 pinion should cure that issue.
- I'll try to post a pic of the stocker/vette/yours.
....hummmm, maybe I can find some more!

these are fairly common. i couldn't tell for sure without seeing the top but it looks about the right size. the 727/904 springs don't have much give at all.

It drops in the 700's accumulator, same diameter as the stocker. Deffinitely doesn't give much, but that would be why his trans hits so hard.
- I've never messed with chrysler stuff. I'm sure I can pick up some though.

im going to have to get pics of my planetary gears but untill then all 4 gears move about a half inch and the trans never made a noise before it went out doing about 60mph just all of a sudden rpm's go up but you just end up slowing down so just shut her down and made a call. im definely going to look into 727/904 trans to see if thats what it came out of not that i dont believe you. thanks Daniel

that's cool. from the pic it is difficult to tell as i couldn't really see the diameter. you never know what some hardcore guys will do to firm up a shift

firm doesnt quite explain the way it shifts ill put it this way i have had that trans for 2 years i know when and how hard it shifts there have been some days where the back of my head hits the headrest it feels like someone rams the back of ur car about 25 mph like i said it doesnt matter what gear it shifting to or whether it is shifting down or up its just as hard everytime and thats with the vette servo im forking out the money for the servos from 700raptor.com the holds 35% more than the vette plus putting 5 pinion planetaries so they wont break again i beat this car each and every day and she takes it well not to mention the way shagwell drives it buts its all good thats what it is meant for cant wait to get it back so i can she will do. Ill be sure to post the outcome and the time changes from the mods. Thanks Daniel

just a thought, if you like it shifting that harshly, leave it the way it is. if not, that one accumulator shouldn't affect every gear. look at the line bias valve in the valve body and see if it moves at all. one thing that racers commonly do in place of a shift kit is block the line bias valve to make the tranny maintain full line pressure at all times. it is supposed to have a spring in it.

Daniel - you better be getting that 50% servo. Same money as the 35%....
