A spool locks the axles together so they always turn the same speed. This is great for straight line accelleration but on the street you drive around curves and corners. When turning any little bit, the inside tire has a shorter distance so it rotates less than the outside tire. Any kind of differential such as an open diff or any type of posi, allows slippage inside the diff for turns. A spool does not so in a turn one tire will break free of traction to match the speed of the other tire. In poor road conditions such as wet pavement, this can cause a loss of handling.
For any street use just buy a good posi.
