2nd servo spring
My 700 developed a long slip into second from first. Third to second is strong. I pulled the servo assembly out and found the spring was broken. The only spring I had available on Saturday was a pink one and not as thick as original, original was brown. The slip has been cut in half but still there.
It was suggested to me from a guy I know at a trans shop that I could either make a spacer and do away with the spring or even turn the piston upside down and replace the spring.
Does this make any sense? Or should I get a stronger spring? Or have I toasted the band and am forced to rebuild?
Suggestions please.

the guy is probably thinking about the 1-2 accumulator piston and spring. you can't put a spacer in the servo or turn it upside down and it work properly. the spring in the servo is a cusion/release spring. putting a smaller one in there prolly has the same effect as having a broken one in there. if 2nd is still applying, the band might be ok, but i would still get a proper spring in there before long. any tranny parts place should carry them. the plaace i work even has them used.
