Aluminum D/S U-joint?

I just bought a 1LE D/S from a board member and the U-Joint does not fit my diff. Its to narrow(the caps only sit in about a 1/4''). Is there a u-joint that can be used in this case, or did I get screwed and I have the wrong end welded to my D/S?

Re: Aluminum D/S U-joint?

From what I've read the 1LE aluminum DS's front and rear U-joints are different. And you have to specify that you need U-joints for the aluminum rather than steel DS.Or are you trying to use the ones that came on the shaft?Make sure they are correct and in the correct position. It has been stated,I forget by what member, the part number to use on pre-'85 cars(what year is your car and/or rear end)when going to the aluminum DS.Others have stated they used the U-joints that either came with the DS or bought the correct ones for it.Try doing a search on driveshaft(if you add aluminum you get returns for intakes brake drums added in).

Hope this may help you.
