700R4 Parts and Mods

Had a few inquiries on a few 700 update and parts. Gimme your thoughts on 29 Element Sprag, 4L65E 3-4 Release Springs, Oil Slinger (mine doesnt have one), Removing the Input Shaft end check ball (ATSG says on a HiPo vehicle it helps the TCC), replacing the output shaft snap ring (ATSG says dont reuse) and any clutch info you may want to pass along. THX in advance Michel

The 29 element sprag is good but the borg warner dual cage 29 elementis better and we have had better results with it, The 4l65e rlease springs at least to me are not that helpfull with and lt1 unless you plan to turn over 6000 rpm on a regualr basis they are actually intended to prevent centrifical 3-4 clutch apply at high rpm but you wil have a little better shift feel without them.
Removing the input shaft check ball good idea and must if you use a small diameter converter will significantly firm up converter clutch apply. Snap ring should always be replaced and many kits come with it in them. I like the raybestos z pack for the 3-4 clutch. Oil slinger is ok havent really noted a difference in wear with or without in cores we disassemble though so wouldnt jump hoops to get one.

Re: 700R4 Parts and Mods

I see. I did not realize ther were two differnet 29-Element sprags. I just keep seeing talk about it in general. So the BW dual it is. Ill probably not do the 4L65E release springs. Seems not in my ballpark of duties to need it. I have a std sized converter. So would I still benefit in the ck ball removal in the shaft or should I leave it? Ill get a snap ring. I only got the gasket/seal kit so far. I didnt know how far I was going in this. But now Im gonnal get bearings and thrust washers since Im in there. Im guessing a all-in-one rebuild kit came with the snap ring included? Noted slinger nada big deal. And noted the Z-Pack. I appreciate you help once again! If you guys sell a 3-4 pack kit, and/or the full friction (steels if needed too) kits, please let me know how much they are. THX
