95 t5 into 86 iroc?

is the t5 from a 95 camaro v6 the same dimensions and bolt pattern? can i use this transmission and bolt it in to my stock bellhousing on my car now. my friends junking his 95 camaro and the transmission is good and very short throws so i would be saving alot of time and money by just bolting this one in. the only thing i can see a problem with is the stock 86 t5 is tilted and the 95 i believe is not.

anybody have opinions? would greatly appreciate it.

thanks,
darrin

Re: 95 t5 into 86 iroc?

i just pulled the transmission down. the bolt pattern looks exactly the same as mine. the transmission looks no different and it has the 45* tilt or whatever you wanna call it. i think it will bolt right in. and it has the 26 spline input shaft.. by the looks of it and dimensions it looks exactly the same. i guess i could be mistaken but i guess i can try to bolt it in and see if it lines up but the bolt holes from trans to bellhousing are in the same exact places. weirdd

Read the sticky about 3/4 down, it will answer your question:

Re: 95 t5 into 86 iroc?

thanks for the link. i read it but thats for t5's up to 92 it doesnt say anything about the 95 t5? im just curious because i lined up both transmissions today and they are exactly the same. i measured everything and the measurements are both the same. now im not talking about the bellhousing because i know that it is a different bolt pattern. but i took the transmission off of the t5 v6 bellhousing and lined it up with my stock 86 v8 bellhousing and it bolts right up.. and the input shaft is the same. so im going to use it and i guess ill see what happens. thanks for your help.

ok i see what your talking about sorry for the confusion. the input shaft is longer.. hmm didnt realize this. would it be possible to swap input shafts? my t5 is totally shot so i have to use this v6 t5 i got it for free so i hope its not too difficult to setup

I think you missed what I was trying to show you.... Here's the posts quoted... go back to it to see the pics...

If the bolt pattern on the bellhousing for the 3.4L was the same as the 5.7" you could just use the V6 bell to make it work but they do not have the same bolt pattern.

It may be possible to make it work by using a .5" thick motor plate and a 1988 V8 bell but the question is, would you realy want to use it?
The V6 WC T5 does not have as high of a torque rating as the V8 WC T5. You can see the difference in the teeth on the gear on the input in the picture I have attached.

(the one on the left is the 93-96 V6 and the one on the right is the 88-92 V8)

(Like Kevin91z stated this isn't a question of the day thread but I thought this question might come up enough to warrant an answer)
