T56 Magnum conversion
Can someone please help? I've read many many threads and cant seem to get all my questions answered! I want to install a T56 Magnum onto my Vortec TPI, with plans of dropping in an LS motor next winter.
If anyone has done this swap and is willing to give me advise, it would be greatly appreciated!
From what I've read a LS bell housing will bolt up to my block minus one bolt hole. I need to know what clutch and fly wheel to use, and also recommendations on cross member and slave cylinder.
If you can help, thanks in advance!

Re: T56 Magnum conversion
The front end of it is no different, depth-wise, than an F-body or GTO T56.
So the maindrive/clutch gear/input is too long for the 350.
QuickTime makes a scatter shield to adapt, and there were spacers on the market to do it.
Clutch? Cheap 86-92 F stuff on third gen flywheel so you can keep your starter for now and have it last a year.
You'll be cutting your driveshaft.
And a crossmember for the torque arm to hook up to will be needed.

Re: T56 Magnum conversion
Thanks JMD!!! Reading a lot of posts on this site it seems like you are the "go to" guy to advise on manual transmissions!
Can I use thirdgen clutch with hydraulic throw out bearing?
Should I use thirdgen pilot bushings as well?
Would you use 3rd or 4th gen pedals? I have both.
Is stock clutch master cylinder ok?
Thanks again JMD!!

Re: T56 Magnum conversion
You may need a spacer for the slave, but the LS1 slave will operate a 3rd gen clutch.
The throw of the 4th gen pedal should match the 4th gen hydr. well; third gen gives a more aggressive pedal. If you like stuff stockier, go for the 4th.
I can't recall if master bore is same from third to LS1; research it. If it is slightly bigger and you go 4th gen pedal, that will be okay.
