th350 Stuck in first gear
Hi all
I have an '82 Trans Am with a 350 small block and a TH350 trans. The shifter has always had lots of slop in it, but it would always go into gear and shift fine. I managed to get it stuck in first gear today, it has park but it lurches forward; i believe its just always in first gear. The ratchet feel on the shifter also changed, its still sloppy but harder move. Fluid looks good (first thing I checked) The linkage is there, and looks the same as pictures of a working one. (bracket on the pan w/ cable just looks like original trans) I didnt put this engine/trans combo the car and automatic transmissions are way beyond me. What is the best way to start diagnosing this? Is there a way to test the shift linkage and cable?
