Leak from new TA Performance 9 bolt cover

Hey yall,

I noticed that my cover seems to be leaking from the fill port...

Nothing substantial of course, just enough to make, maybe a half dollar sized spot on the ground.

I've tightened down everything as much as I could, don't really know what to do. Is this okay? Is it just excess fluid finding its way out?

thanks!

First off, the fluid level shouldn't be that high. It should only be as high as the stock fill port, which is just barely below the axle tubes, by design. If the tubes are full, the axle seals will almost certainly leak. The idea is, fluid should be encouraged to run up in there a little bit as you go around a corner or are on a minor incline, to keep the bearings happy; but there shouldn't be fluid standing in there all the time.

Second, about 6 - 8 wraps of Teflon tape, with only gentle tightening, usually does the trick on pipe thread plugs like that one. I like to cut off a piece with a razor blade or scissors, fold it over double, and then wrap it, 2 layers at a time. That way there's not a bunch of it all hanging out all over the place.

Alright cool.

I definitely did not over fill it as it has the "check" plug as well, and I didn't add any more after that started spilling out.

I will give the Teflon a swing though, thanks for the tip!
