whats the best way???

I have an 88 v6 and I was wondering what the best engine swap would be, I just rolled over 200,000 miles on the factory engine and its TIRED... I want to do a swap that is quick affordable and faster than what I have....I've heard that the 350 (what I wanted) is difficult and time consuming....thats great, but I hope to do it in the 4 months before I go to boot camp...lol....

any ideas?

Car: 1987 Camaro SC
Engine: 2.8L MPFI (rebuilt)
Transmission: 700R4 swapped to T5
Axle/Gears: 3.42 open
Yup. 3.4l swap would be the quickest, most affordable and give you much improved performance.
Plenty of threads here about the swap, and a tech article too.

That V8 swap is just too expensive IMO. The V6 trans won't bolt up to it so you need a trans, harness, ecm, all the accessory brackets, yada, yada, yada....

Find my tech thread I wrote on the 2.8->3.4 long block swap boogie ("Saturday Night Fever" is on TV tonight, too!)
Find a low milage 3.4 long block from a 1993-1995 FBody (ONLY). Costa ranges from low of $210 to high of $900 (myself). Latest best find buyy was at $650 for a 40,000 mile used long block engine & tranny!
Make some time to do the project right without taking a "I can't Finish This Swap" break (make a commitment!)
Be back on road, enjoying the efforts
Of over atleast 125 Swap Boogies by now, only one person not pleased with end results.
Plan, research, find prices and engines before lifting a wrench.
PS How's your tranny?
Nearly everyone reported tranny failure after the swap due to increased torque.
Myself?
I've gone thru two tranny since my swap.
DON'T WORRY ABOUT
Horsepower or this and that.
In end all ya doing is getting back on road, quick & least money outta pocket.
Gains are great tho.
Better milage & a car that operates correctly, if ya do the swap right.
My car pulls like a freight train and performs great using the AC, too.
Enjoy the project!
Or else sell your ride and go find a car already finished to your liking.
It is a very simple, easy, yet detailed swap.
Nearly 90% of what ya own, on your current drivetrain, swaps easily to the 3.4.
