code 32?

so yesterday i took my car (86 sc 2.8l) on the high way for the first time since i got it running , so i pull of at an exit about 4 or so miles away from where i got on. i get to a stop sign at the end of the exit and take a careful look at my gauges because it was idling a little rough, i figured it was a loose dizzy cap, which it was, but i noticed that my ses light was on. i knew that the dizzy wouldnt cause that so i went on to the school but when i got to the school the ses light wasn't on. but i told my papaw to take it straight home and not to mess with it til i have a chance to look at it. okay so today i check it for codes and find that it was code 32. which is for " EGR failure"
the car runs and idles fine since i fixed the distributor and the ses light hasn't come on, other that at start up, since so i dont know what to do about it?

P.S. sorry for the novel i figured that there might be some information that might shed some light on the subject, thanks

Re: code 32?

well if you have no light and it seems to be running fine then dont worry about it until it messes up again. If you do get the code again do a search on code 32 and you will find a bunch of old threads about it. Also do a search for clean EGR or something close, maybe test EGR. After doing all that if it still doesnt work id say just get rid of all the EGR related stuff. Its not needed anyway, if anything all it does is add alot of carbon into your TB and intake plenums lol. Just make sure you tune your computer accordingly so you dont keep getting the code once you get rid of it all.

Good luck man...just try and do a search next time tho. There have been ALOT of threads about code 32.
