APYM EPROM HELP!!

I've got a 1989 iroc z 5.0L TPI vin code F (LB9) I'm trying to find EPROM GM part # 16133467 code on the chip is "APYM 3493". My PROM is bad. This part # is discontinued with no old stock available. From what the GM parts guy says, this is the only year that this chip was used. Is there another option? Anybody have a chip for sale? or any leads?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Yes download the bin burn to eeprom and either solder to stock memcal or use adapter

Proms rarely go bad. What is the issue?

What transmission and gear ratio? There are other proms you could use but may have to change a few parameters in the bin or use a custom bin.

The issue is no data with tech II several codes (6+) including eprom code, seems to be in fail safe mode. Swapped with reman ecu, installed stock eprom, same codes. The trouble tree for the eprom code reads ecu and or eprom failure.

I've never burnt chips before and I'm trying to keep as stock as possible.

Automatic and I believe 2.73 gears. I've also read I can't use one from a 350 because they have different injectors... So it may run rich?

Re: APYM EPROM HELP!!

then you have to pony up 175 bucks and get one from tpiparts if you are sure it's the prom. As for stock, no one sees you have a memcal adapter and additional prom in there. If it has a stock tune burnt onto it, it's as stock as from the factory in the way it runs.

Re: APYM EPROM HELP!!

Ecm had codes:
22 tps signal low voltage
21 tps signal high voltage
14 coolant temp sensor high temp indicated
32 egr circuit
53 vat diag
51 prom error
44 o2 sensor lean

Code 51 mem-cal error (faulty or incorrect mem-cal) check that all pins are fully inserted in the socket and that mem-cal is properly latched. If ok replace mem-cal, clear memory, & recheck. If code 51 reappears, replace ecm.

Re: APYM EPROM HELP!!

TPI parts had already sold the APYM chip. Is it possible to use a G1 memory adapter and a jet performance chip?

Re: APYM EPROM HELP!!

I'm my experience EPROMS never go bad. But buying a remanned ECM is a lottery. Most ship bad out of the box, go find a junkyard car if you suspect a faulty ECM. You will spend WAY less money for your patience. (And get a pile of free calpaks)
