Trying To Get It Running Again

Long story short, this car had a driveability issue involving a code 33. I quit driving it because of it. All I did was start it up and drive it a mile or so, every now and again. Then one day it didn't start because the fuel pump had failed. That was about 13 years ago.

Which brings us to current time. I've installed a new Walbro pump, in an NOS sending unit. The car would not fire, at first. Presumably due to bad fuel still in the lines. It eventually fired, but it only fires up initially and then dies. Fuel pressure is good. I have also checked for injector pulse. Last night, I gave the injectors (24# Accells from '03) some "percussion maintenance" and it seemed to help, as the car would run a few seconds longer. But tonight, it starts and immediately dies.

Best I can tell, the injectors have failed and the car only briefly starts because of the cold start injector? Am I overlooking something?@Tuned Performance

Re: Trying To Get It Running Again

Can the engine be made to run if fuel is manually administered after starting? That might reveal if the ignition still functions after the key is released to the "RUN" position. It could also be helpful is the injectors are not pulsing after the initial start.

What year? I'm curious if there might be a VATS issue at hand.

Nevermind the background noise, it's just the TV.

It's an '86, so no VATS. And yeah, I forgot to mention that it runs consistently if I manually feed it 20% ether.

That’s along time to sit with untreated fuel. It might be worth getting southbay to service them or put in 22s I can’t remember if it’s a stock 350 or slightly modified with cam or has any tuning or not.

The tank was mostly empty, but the remaining fuel most definitely smelled terribly bad. No gunk in the tank. I dumped in 6 gallons of fresh fuel.

It's an aluminum headed 350 with an ancient Crane CompuCam. Injectors are 24# and it has a mail order tune from Brian Harris. It never ran perfect, but ran well.

I was going to get the narrow body, 24# injectors from Southbay, but the website shows they are out of stock. So I ordered a set of 24# injectors from Amazon today... for a whole 47 bucks, lol. I don't expect much from them, but if they make the car run and move again, that will be good enough for now. If not, I'm out 47 bucks and it's just a failed experiment and I will know not to do that again.

Injector quality varies off China copies that don’t tune at all to real ford d3. If it ran well service what you have the voltage offsets should be adjusted already in the tune. Dispite a flow rating being the same the control voltage aspect is slightly different.

You'll have to put that in dumb guy terms for me, especially the last sentence, lol.

Fwiw, I don't plan on driving and using the car with those cheap Amazon injectors. I just really want to hear it run again, and have the ability to move it in and out of the garage while I tend to other stuff in the car.

Ok, so since they work differently electronically, they may not flow the same amount, in relation to how the ecm is telling them to fire?

I ordered these ones here. Somewhere in the description it said they worked on '85+ GM too.
