aftermarket tach question

Ive got a 1992 3.1 camaro that I want to put an aftermarket tach in. I searched and found a thread from 2006 that was full of flaming and other things and I couldn't really find an exact answer to the question of where the "tach" wire or the green wire is suppose to be ran to. It said run the green wire to the white wire on the coil. Ive got two clips going into my coil, both of which have a white wire and both of which have a red or pink wire. I can't really tell because they are kind of faded. Which one do I run it too? Im not trying to make my car look cool or anything, I just have a small misfire and I am trying to monitor my RPMs and of course the tach in my cluster doesn't work...

Re: aftermarket tach question

It will be the white wire at the coil. The correct white wire is the one paired with the heavy red (pink) wire. These go into the harness. There may be a fast-on type connector in this wire. If so just open it and connect the tach wire to the end that goes to the coil.

Note that the other red & white wire pair goes to the distributor. These get left alone.
