I agree. Jer4251 has got a nice stance there. Wheels even fit nicely.

I'm not a fan of chrome, or high polished aluminum so I'm running competition grey wheels. I hear a lot that thirdgens don't look good with staggered sizes but I think with 17/18, the fronts just like they're holding too much tire in comparison to the rears. I'm running a 18/19 combo and like the look, as well as get compliments.

I don't understand the whole stigma against larger than 18's but whatever. I think whoever mentioned the offset problem thirdgens have said it best. Lots of people "settle" for something that's close but doesn't look quite right.

Re: 18" or 20" rim/wheel pics. HAVING a hard time here

my wheels were Konig appeals. 20x8 or 8.5's had 255's on them. was running dropzone springs. but no longer have the setup.

I've been running this setup on my 92 Z. 18"s front and back with sportlines. kinda want a 20 again, but might just end up with my Z06's on this one down the road when i buy new wheels for my 97

always loved those verts.... loose the stripes and pick a wheel size and that would be a sharp looking car!

for show cars i like 19's, for cars you actually drive nothing over 18's. for racing or track 16's unless you have 6 piston calipers then 17's.

here are some major points to consider. 18" is the cheapest, large rim that is easy to afford, tires are reasonable and wheel choices are plentiful. jumping to 19's will add minimum of $1k or more to your wheel/tire package. tire choice is limited and much more expensive. also with the lower profile tire the car rides harder, the wheels are heavier so you go slower and your car will take more of a beating through suspension and steering components.

20's obviously that much more however, tires are cheaper and wheel choices are more so then the 19.

19 is a perfect fit with the right tire on a thirdgen, it's just expensive... very expensive.

thanks man, this wheel combo does give the car alot of different looks. some angles...it looks great..other angles....it's kind of "iffy". Like I said in some previous post's...if 19's were available...I would have went with 19's up front. But, 19's aren't available.

Some interesting combinations on here for sure!

And many options to choose from.
Just don't go with 24's!
Please.... I beg of you!

Our 3rd Gens are in the neck of classics.
Yet I see so many spending their hard earned dollar to turn their classic into a getto mobile.
Yes! It's their money, and they work for it and it's their car and they own it.
Frankly... I have yet to see a 3rd gen that looks good sporting 4th gen rims or Vette rims.

Another thing to consider is..... tires.
Bigger size or width in the rear means you can't rotate tires.
You mention this is a cruiser and not a racer.
If ya go with the 18/20 combo..... rotating tires is out of the question.
Same goes for if ya go with a wider rim in the rear than the front.

A combo I have not seen on here that would be interesting though.......

20's in the rear and 18's in the front with a 2" slam kit in the rear only!

Re: 18" or 20" rim/wheel pics. HAVING a hard time here

if your even considering buying above 18" and can afford it legally your probably not too worried about rotating the tires. however a very good point as the cost of rubber is expensive but keep in mind 19" rims and tires cost more then 20's.

i love my 19's for looks but would never go over 18" again for something that i drive. they are heavy and uncomfortable, it just isn't worth it but if you want to have a car that stands out they work.

yes I would stay with 18's because of tire expense, if you could afford the 20 jus use them for show.

Re: 18" or 20" rim/wheel pics. HAVING a hard time here

I'm thinking about 17s no chrome. For me 18s start to get a little "pimpish". For a perspective, here's my 16s (just polished, not chromed) now with a 1" Hotchkis drop front and back. And with only a 1" drop, I still gotta be careful with speed bumps and drive ways. At any rate, I think lowering the car a bit is mandatory to make the wheel tuck look good with any size. I could go 17's but don't think the 16s look bad either.

Holy Crapola... SO MANY NICE FRIGGIN CARS IN THIS THREAD... & Steve Petroff I am going to rape your oh so beautiful car... I deleted all my porn from the computer & replaced it with the pics of your car.

Oh & for that yellow car at the beginning, I love it, Just think how easily we could run dual 4 inch pipes and hit any speed bump or curb you want then... If I can just learn how to eat more fried chicken and enjoy hog's head cheese I'll be all set for that lifestyle.

Ok, now that I got that out of my system, I just wish I had the patience or skill to make my car that good looking... guess I need to find a better job so I can afford to have it done for me. I can do mechanical all day long but I'm much better at ruining sheetmetal then fixing it...

YAY for things that burn gas...

Thanks for the compliment Ricco . They are 20x8.5 in front with 255-35-20 nitto NT555 . And the Rears are 20x10 with 285-30 20 . fts had 6.25 backspace and rear had 7.25 .With a little adapter action they fit like a champ. I even think ill be able to lower it about an inch and a half.

I agree with alot of the guy's on here that 18's are by far the biggest rim size to put on the 3rd gen. no more bigger...like IrocBirdBuilder & Kandied 91Z cars they look amazing with the 18's especially the Boze Wheels.
I ordered a set of Boze "Octanes" last week to 10 days ago...mine are going to be 18X10 on the rear & 18X8 on the front...pics will be up in the spring.

Very nice choice in wheels!!!! I crud my pants everytime I look at their catolog and see the octanes! I think that those TT2's dated you car, even though they looked great.

I couldn't agree more...anything bigger than 17s looks absolutely ridiculous and cant possibly be done right! BTW, in response to your actual question, Id go 18s.

Oh and btw, 19s (rear) 18s (front)

Your car looks beautiful. What wheels and what size are those? No spacers needed, correct?

Re: 18" or 20" rim/wheel pics. HAVING a hard time here

Thanks, the wheels are ADR M-sports and from what I have heard they are extremely difficult to get a hold of these days. I had to run 1" adapters on the rear and 1.25" on the front.

And they are 19x9.5 and 18x8.5 and im running a 295 39 19 and 255 40 18. Next time I need new tires, ill be moving up the rears to a 305 30 19.

hey guys all your cars look wild, but the red formula that tpidude1 owns looks just amazing! And miRob, your car has the nicest stance I have seen in a while. And dont forget the red IROC that belongs to jer4251 with 18"s and sportlines, same setup as i have for my car and i think it it looks just wicked, 18"19" look right on these cars, i think anybody will agree if not then you need a reality check. Keep the third gens commin.

here is mine with no motor, or any running gear, windshield or interior, so it looks high.

The chevelle was Boss 301 20" wheels, what size are yours?
I found another pic of the formula without the aero wing.I had to lower the car about 2,5" before I got the right stance.
