275-40 R18 tires on C6 18x8.5 wheels?
So I picked up two practically brand new Goodyear Eagle F1 run flats, both are 275-40 R18.... I know the recommended wheel width for a 275 is 9", but an 8.5 is not far off. Having said that, would it be an issue to run these? I've heard of mustang owners running this size on 8.5" wheel.
Looking for some opinions... I have 285-35 R19's for the rear already.
Thanks

Actually I would only go with a 9.5" or 10" wide wheel with a 275 width tire. Otherwise you will negatively affect the contact patch, steering feel, and stability at speed.
I would recommend going with a 255-40/45 tire for your car with the 8.5" wheel you want to run.

As noted, it won't perform well, but for A-to-B, it can be done safely enough. Why not get 9.5s for the front? It is an easy fit.

The reason I haven't considered 9.5 wheels is I already have these OEM C6 wheels. I had the tires mounted, not as bad as I expected... actually they will be fine for now until the new motor gets broken in. After these wear out I'll install the factory size tire, before I do any spirited driving or long road trips.

I've run 275/35/18s on 8.5 C6 wheels, and they performed fine. Is a 255 a better fit? Definitely, but it doesn't make as big of a difference as everyone makes it sound on here. I stepped down to some 265s and couldn't tell any bit of difference what so ever.
