MSD adjustable Timing Control

Anyone considering getting this I highly reccomend it.It easily allows you to advance or retard timing from the drivers seat.It really helps if you have to buy cheap gas in a pinch. If anyone has installation questions send me an Email. If I cant answer I know MSD tech can help he answered me all my questions.

I have been using these items for YEARS and they are AWESOME! Extremely helpful with PROM tuning on computer-controlled distributors, too, when used along with MSD's Audible Knock Sensor.

Yes you can use it to either advance or retard it depends on where the rotary **** is when you install it.For example if you set it up where the **** is in the middle which is 7.5 degrees you can then advance or retard 7.5 degrees depending on which way you turn the ****. Hope this helps clear things up.

I got mine years ago and I think youare right in that they did not describe how to make it "advancing"... I believe this was for lawsuit purposes, my friend. 15deg of possible advance could cause a serious hurtin'.

As stated above, you are supposed to install it with the **** at "0" retard (all the way counter clockwise) and set your initial timing as you would normally. Then, when you crank the ****, you RETARD the timing. You can only turn the **** towards retarding (clockwise) with this method of installation.

What you CAN/could do is set the **** to, say 5 degrees of retard and THEN installing it by setting your initial timing normallly, as you did above. Now, you have 5 degrees of possible advance (turn **** counter-clockwise) and 10 degrees of possible retard (turn **** clockwise). Get it? Pretty cool, eh?
