a pal of mine just had a new camshaft put in. he did a neutral drop at about 35 and twisted his frame like a pretzel. do a search for subframe connectors, strut tower arms and stuff or go to the suspension and chassis sections they got some awsome ways of making the frame sturdy.

Looks like a flat tappet cam... and the figures aren't any better than the LT1 cam really. If you've got a roller block, then save yourself about $65 and just buy a used LT1 or LT4 cam. You might see 25-30hp more with stock heads 30-40 more if you've got aftermarket heads. Changes will be more dynamic if you have the exhaust done as well.

ok since Im new to all this, can someone explain to me the cam meanings and why you have to have new heads and stuff? I really wanna learn, could you maybe point me to some good websites?
thanks!!!
thanks!!!
Duration - how long(measured in degrees) the valve is open
Lift - how far the valve opens
Duration @ .050 - actual duration, with normal cam install(more important #) - the larger the duration, the higher RPM your power band will start and end.
A stock cam is tiny. Better used as a bat. A TBI intake's power band is low. If you have a stock hydraulic roller, then stick w/ the roller. Then you don't need lifters, just the cam.(use your old)A roller will make more power, run smoother, and give you a wider power band. Horsepower is made by achieving the maximum ratio of air/fuel in and out. That maximum depends on your engine. A large cam on stock heads will defeat the purpose, because the cam is allowing for more air/fuel than your heads can flow. I'd look into Comp Cams. They make a quality cam. Give them a call. They can recommend a camshaft that will suit your set-up.

What your going to want to do is search for a cam that best suits your needs. Go check out comp cams and crane cams web sites. See if they have any high performance cams made for your 305.
E-mail Them or even phone them and ask as meny questions untill you fill happy about your choice.
If you don't mind spending a couple of bucks get your heads ported and polished. And have a 3 angle valve job don on your valves to.
By then you'll start noticing some nice improvements. Then later add some headers and a free flowing exaust.

your better off soing exhaust first, headers and a catback with a high flow cat will be a great improvment, and help all other upgrades, such as cams and heads
