Which ignition setup sounds better?

Please vote above on which ignition setup sounds better to you. It would be cool if you guys would vote on personal experiences, or if you know of people who have done this kinda setup. Don't just vote for MSD cause they are more known. Thanks guys. -89IRO

I've always heard that with any ignition set up it is always good to stick with one brand....like if you get an accel modual, you should stick with accel with the coil and other ignition stuff(i really dont think the wires are a big deal with this theory) but i heard that it help with the longevity of the products. I really dont think there will be a huge difference with MSD and Accel if you stick with one brand. I am currently upgrading my ignition and i am going with all accel products because I already have the super coil and i really like it. just my .02

Sounds good BG- thanks for the help, so is it that "e-core" (remote) accel coil you got? Since I want to get the accel module too, do you know wich part number it is that will fit my car? ('89 camaro HEI remote coil.) I would go with all MSD stuff but they don't make a module for my car, and like you said, I should stick to all one brand (except moroso wires.) -89IRO

Hey 89IRO, you may have better luck than me but i just got done going through this! I needed a cap and rotor for my 86' HEI dist. with internal coil and MSD does not make one that fits the 86'! I got it and it has the "L" screws that turn into the dist. to hold it there. I need just a regular screw type. So i tried the cap for external coils, not even close to being the same size! I returned that. I am also going with MSD 6AL ignition with the Blaster 2 coil so i was able to try a cap with the external coil, it still did not work for me. I just went with the Accel cap and rotor kit. Got it yesterday and it worked out fine, it had the proper screws i needed for my dist. For some reason MSD did not have a cap to fit my dist., don't know why, they just did not have one! I say stick with all of the same and double check the parts before you order. Good luck

86IROC- sorry to hear about all the trouble you've been through just for a damn cap/rotor- that sucks. Yeah, I think I'm going to stick with all Accel ignition. (Cap/rotor, coil, and module.) But I'm going to use Moroso Blue Max Spiral core wires. You said you had a '86 with an internal coil? Well, I have an '89 with an external coil, so if I did go with MSD, which I'm not, I wonder if I would have the same probs. as you did. So how is all you accel stuff working out for you? Never had Accel stuff so how is the quality of the cap/rotor and coil? Alright, got to get back to the USC/UCLA game! -89IRO

Well, the stuff looks the same! I don't have it in the car yet. I am in the middle of a motor swap and the dist. is the last thing to be put in. I am plugging everything up now and i was waiting on a water pump too. The parts look the same as the MSD parts. Pretty much MSD is going to be a bit better since it is better known and used! Never really hear bad things about either companies. You should have way better luck finding the correct parts! Just double check what you are ordering b/c i think that was part of my problem. I just ordered the part thinking it would fit. good luck

300+ Accel Ignition

Hey guys, just was looking on Jeg's and I noticed Accel makes an ignition box too for my '89 Camaro 5.7L. (part # 49321) It is the 300+ ignition. It is $220. Anyways, it says it includes the ignition box, coil, and module, but in the picture, all they show is the box and coil, did I read it wrong, or is the module included? It is also this way on Summit. It would be great if it included everything because I would save some money and get the box too to make my ignition even more complete! Can you guys check it out on Jeg's and/or Summit and let me know what you think? Thanks. -89IRO

What made you decide on Moroso wires?

I think I decided on them because I heard a lot of guys (not just in this thread) put down Accel wires, and Morosos are high quality and well know for their wires. Expensive at around $45 but the 8mm should take the heat good and last a good while. -89IRO

Anyone have any thoughts on the Accel 300+ ignition box that I posted above? My car is an '89 IROC-Z. Will the box go good with my new Accel cap/rotor, module, coil, and moroso wires (all after my new exhaust and K&Ns next week?) Or will I be fine just sticking with the cap/rotor, module, and coil? By the way, the 300+ ignition box comes with the coil so it isn't all that expensive at $220. -89IRO

I would save my money and not get the ignition box. It would be the very last thing i would do to my motor. You'r not gonna see any performance difference.
