Since this is an opinion poll and not a tech discussion:

I think the carb won't fit the manifold without an adapter (yuck). I think you'll have one too many distributors. I think once you sort all that out and get it running, you'll be disappointed. You'll have an orange light on the dash staring at you. Your torque convertor (assuming auto) won't lock up. The reason for going through all this is because some hack did in your CC stuff, otherwise you'd know there isn't any performance benefit from this (the CC stuff when properly set up will run as well, get better mileage, have more power potential).

But, that's just what I think. Now, if you spent your money on headers & y-pipe, high flow cat & catback...

i have the cat back system and the headers and y-pipe are on the way. The smog stuff wanst working when i bought the car but it still passed emission when i had to worry about it, but now i dont so i ripped it out. Now i put two dist. up there b/c they both were cheap and was asking for the better of the two. I need this to get my car running at this time. the factory carb is screwed and the mech said i need a new one, so instead of speding 400+ for a replacememt carb i thought i would just get a new carb and dist. to get me running and on the road for the summer. come winter i would fix it all with the good stuff. thaks for your 2 cents, it is what i asked for. I have a five speed car by the way.

I have the computer stuff out of my car.Iswitched to a edelbrock carb and different distributor and with my car being automatic i got a TCI torque converter lock up kit for my camaro it cost my 150.00 to put the kit in but i did the rest myself.By putting these things in my car i can feel a noticeable increase in horsepower. But this is only my .02 cents

A Question..

Why won't the torque converter lock up?
I ask this question because I just had my 305 rebuilt & I'm having a completely new ignition system put in.. I will have the MSD 6A box, MSD Distributor & coil..

The car is still in the shop, but will I need a new Torque Converter?

I have an 83 TA, 700R4 4 speed..

From what i believe the computer has control over the the lock up of the torque converter. So when eliminating the computer in your car you also eliminate the lock up.In my car I put a lock up kit.But that only locks up overdrive.you still can drive your car without a lock up but it heats up and puts a little more strain on your transmission..Hope this helps..........
