If you car is still injected do not go any lower than about 170, it will play fits with the computer if you do.

Hey bud, any lower than 170 and you're going to give the computer fits due to the open/closed loop operation requirements. Keep in mind that the ECM performs certain functions, i.e. Torque converter clutch engagement, at certain temperature ranges.

Our 3rd Gens were designed to run nice and warm but not too warm or too cold. I say nothing under 170 and nothing over 220 is acceptable. Take into consideration that our cars came from the factory with a 195^F thermostat in them so you can see what I mean. However sitting at stoplights for anymore than a few minutes in 90^F + temperatures can definitely cause you to run a little over that 220^ mark.

If you want to run a little cooler than 220 I suggest that you pull out the 195^F thermostat, put in a 180^F 'stat, wire your fan(s) on a toggle switch in the cabin that way you can turn them on when you are sitting at a stoplight.

FWIW, DexCool is the best antifreeze I've used yet.

I'm running a 160 degree thermostat, and my car with the fan on will stay at 160 while sitting at a dead stop. When I'm driving it will venture up to 220, without the fan kicking in. The fan kicks in above that. I am going to rig up a toggle switch to run the fan, staying cool is the way to go, I never feel comfortable over 220. Running warmer hurts performance too...just keep that in mind.
