Splitfires..waste of $$?
I've got a 91 RS 3.1 auto with regular, cheap-o spark plugs right now. I've been looking around for cheap performance boosters.. I was wondering if putting spitfire spark plugs in would make any noticeable difference. My car has no mods, and to my knowledge, all of it is factory except the radiator, tranny mount, and starter. Also, would a K&N filter be worth it on such a small engine? My best 0-60 time was around 8.7 seconds, doing the 1>2>Drive>Overdrive thing.

Most people on here say splitfires are a waste of money, it seems most prefer AC Delco plugs, I usually go with autolite platinums, the only advantage platinums have over regular ones, is they last longer.

Well, I haven't swapped the spark plugs yet since the current ones are almost new, but I installed a K&N filter and put Copper-core Superstock 7mm spark plug wires.. I was gonna put spiralcores or 8.8mm's in, but I heard it was a waste of money on a V-6, so I went with the cheaper ones. It had a nice kick after I put the K&N in...it pulled harder in 2nd and got a quicker launch. I haven't gotten a 0-60 with the new stuff in but I plan to sometime soon. Haven't noticed any difference with the new wires in, but they're a hell of a lot better than the old ones..the old ones had so thin a conductive element, I don't even know how electricity went through them at all. Only thing I'm pissed about with the K&N is the little "K&N Filtercharger Equipped" sticker wasn't in my box...I wanted that thing!
welli have a Camaro 87 2.8, i got some Crane Cams 8.5mm and i feel better throttle response, you should try them, hell who ever said it was pointless for our V6er's to get them didn't know much, we need as much power as possible!!
