MSD coil

I have an 87 IROC with 350 A4. is the MSD Blaster Coil the best one out there? I need the one with dual connectors. After getting MSD 6A, MSD wires, new spark plugs, new coil, cap and rotor, what else should I get? Thanks.

I believe the best coil available is Jacobs' Ultra Coil. It produces more secondary voltage (65,000) than any coil I know of and has a variable magnetic core (U.S. Patent). Also, it is compatible with the 6A box. This is the setup I use.

To top it off, it has a lifetime warranty. Can't beat it, in my opinion.

after getting msd, performance plugs, 8mm+ wires, and a high output coil how much horsepower gain is seen? i have heard it is just more throttle response, but i have also read that gapping your spark plugs adds horsepower? thanks

Theoretically, adding ignition components such as the MSD stuff isn't supposed to add any horsepower, but rather ensure complete combustion of the air/fuel mixture, improving driveability, mileage, and throttle response. But if the high performance equipment is combusting more air/fuel than the stock setup, wouldn't that cause an increase in horsepower? That's my line of thinking.
As for gapping the plugs to get horsepower, I've never really heard anything about that. From what I know though, if the spark plugs have too wide of a gap, then it will take so much initial energy in the spark to bridge that gap there won't be enough spark energy left to complete the burn in the cylinder, leading to unburned fuel, loss of power, driveability, and mileage. So if you have a voltage of 60,000 traveling to the spark plugs, and the gap is perfect, then it'll take "X" amount of that 60,000 to bridge the gap, and the rest of the voltage will be used to complete the burn. So if the gap is too large, there won't be enough voltage left to get complete combustion.
