I think nitto makes the best street strip tire it hooks well and you can use it on the street but it will wear faster good luck dave w.

BFG Drag Radial in 255/50R16 is about $135,they work well but won't last long.
You could always buy a jug of VHT Traction
Goo or Moroso's Moose Juice.

For good street manners wet or dry and decent traction try Firestone SZ50's.
I cut 1.98 60fts wiht my old L98. Not sure what percentage you're looking for, street-vs-track grip.

Nitto 555R's without a doubt! I haven't used them personally, but have seen them in action, and they work well! They do wear kinda quick, but probably not much quicker than the tires you have now, since you won't be spinning them everywhere.

My BFGoodrich drag radials gave me awesome traction on the street and at the track the bad part about it is they only lasted 2 months. Yep 2 months.

As far as the 255/50R16 BFG Drag Radials fitting your stock rims....
BFG says recommended rim width is 6.5"to 10"!
Other specs on this tire:
Tread width:9.7"
Section Width:10.3
and Diameter is:26.1"
Hope this helps.

they say that even though the tread is gone, they still hook down to the cords. personally if u are looking for tread life. i would get mickeytom et streets and use them on an old rim and switch the back ons at the track

I like the Nitto DR's. Good in the rain, tend to last about 12,000-16,000 miles. Hell, I had a set of Z-rated radials only last 5,000 miles once. I've been buying the Nitto's for about $120-$125 a piece - P245/50ZR16's. I ran my best ET's w/ the BFG's, but they can be slightly unpredictable in the rain. And ET Streets are not a good tire to drive in the rain on.

are you looking for something that you can use in the rain or just a weekend/track tire?

I have BFG Comp T/A VR-4's on my car and i like them very much. Problem is they wear out quick. Actualy my best 60' i cut was with one BFG and one Pep Boys ultra Z in the back (1.9 60' btw)

if you just want a street/strip tire for good weather, Hoosier Quick Time or Quick Time Pro is the only way to go. Pretty much a slick, the Pro has less tread then the regular quick time but they are both street legal. hook better then M/T ET streets and last longer too. these are not ment for wet weather driving though. If i was you, id buy some Pep Boy's Ultra Z's p245/50/R16's for the street and a set of Hoosiers on spare rims for the track/crusing. The ultra Z's are a great tire for the cash (like $99 a tire), hook pretty well and have a 40,000 mile treadlife. trying to get the best of both worlds out of one tire is pretty hard. I think in the end you'll be happier with 2 set of rubber.
