Are TPiS runners any good? I know SLP are highly recommended but are TPiS as good?

TPIS's runners are made by Arizona Speed & Marine, but with a higher price tag. Do a Search on AS&M runners on here, it has been a topic discussed many times - exact same question you asked even. Many like SLP after extensive porting, and AS&M out of the box-bolt-on, porting can't be done to them.
AS&M's quality is amazing though. They are still pricey, but you do get what you pay for. SLP's pretty much ALL require cleaning up. Try to find a set in the classifieds that are already worked over.

The SLP's have two things going for them.
1. Price
2. You can port or modify them to your hearts content.
Otherwise for out of the box there are better ones.

I've had the slp's for some time and yes, they are really beefy. It should be noted for those interested that there is at least one trick to installing them. You must place all the bolts in the holes before placing them on the the engine as you cannot slip the bottom bolts in once they're in place. Why, you might ask? Because they are so thick!!!!
It doesn't sound like much, but if you use a thin bead of RTV on the gaskets to seal them, it can be messy if you have to remove them to insert the bolts. Just a thought.
