Hey everybody,hi from australia,I'm thinking of getting a fibreglass SS hood for my 85 Z28.Is the scoop open at the back&does it have the mesh insert in the front?.I've read both the good&bad comments on this hood and hopefully they have got those problems sorted.Being in australia,i'm looking at$1800 AU to buy it and get it shipped,so i have to give it some serious thought.Lastly who other than hawks have the SS hood?.Thanks for any info.

I got mine from ASCD - American Sports Car Designs.

It came with a plastic insert like the stock 4th gen SS hood has, and the back is just like a cowl, its not 'open'

If you mean when you look through the hole, can you see the engine bay, then yes, I actually cut out the inner fiberglass cause I didnt like the way it came stock since I never put the insert in.

 

Hi steven,Thanks for the info.So i take it that hot underhood air cant get out at the rear of the hood unless i cut the fiberglass out.?

Go to Hawksthirdgen.com, Thats were i plan to buy my hood from, i think its cheapest there. It says it has a special offer but thats been their for ever. I dont know were they deliver to though.
