mallory VS. MSD?

I have decided the take thatn dam computer out of my car, and go the sure way.

I Have narrowed down my choices for the igntion sytem to either Mallory, or MSD.

I tend to favour mallory, but then again I have no experience with either.

The Mallory system I plan to use is the followin
Comp 9000 Unilite Electric Distributo (P/N 9148201)

Coil P/N 29440

Mallory Hyfire VI CD iginition box (P/N 685)

Any comments??

THanks!

Both systems are very good. The only real differance is the way they deliver the spark. The MSD system sends out 6 small sparks and the Mallory has one big one. My friends and I have run both systems and have found them both to perform about the same.

82 Z28 with 350.motor has .030 forged flat top pistions other wise stock bottom end, Summit 214/224 cam with 1.6 Harland Sharp roller rockers, stock 882 heads for now (will be getting a set of the 23 degree Trick Flows this summer), Performer RPM intake, Holley 750 Vacuum secondary, Th350 with 2200 converter, stock 3.23 geared rearend for now (getting 9" later on), Headman shorty headers, custom 2.5" into 3.5" Y pipe into M.A.C. offroad pipe and M.A.C. cat back system. So far car has only been to the track twice and is having sever traction problems but is running 60'-2.34 1/8 mile-9.2 @ 79 MPH.

Good man Good man!

I have had both and really liked the Mallory until I switched to MSD.
My opinion is that MSD is the way to go without a doubt. Go through the pits at the track and take a look at what is on the fast cars, and I'll guess you see more MSD than anything.
I run an MSD distributor, 6-AL, multi-retard, and RPM switch. I love it all.

good luck

i think mallory tends to be more fragile, the msd distributors have to be run with a msd box. on my car i took out a mallory and went to msd, if that tells you anything. i think too the msd is far more common.
