Dash Cam

Hello everyone! First post on TGO and I have been lurking for a little while and learning things for my Firebird and well I guess today was kind of the last straw on things. Almost got into a collision today driving back home when a Lyft driver swerved into my lane and cut me off. This would have been my second auto collision in the Bird so I am going to try to mitigate the headaches of when the next one happens. Has anyone used dash cams for evidence and which ones would you guys recommend? I window shop a lot on ebay and see all these "dash/action cams" and have been wondering if you have tried any of them out and if they are any good? I saw a post on a few of them but they are four to five years old and I am sure that the qualities of these things have changed somewhat. So lay these reviews on me.

P.S If this thread doesn't belong here I am so sorry about that, so please tell me how to move it to the right one. Please and thank you

Re: Dash Cam

Those sound like a great idea "on paper", but will it be recording at the exact instant you need it to be? Also, will it be pointed exactly where you need it to be?

Re: Dash Cam

I have dash cams in all of our vehicles (Trax, Equinox, Silverado, and IROC). In my IROC I now have a Thinkware Q800 (w/ rear camera option), whereas I used to have two mini 0805 both of which failed after about 4 seasons of use (those had batteries not caps). It is true that one or two cameras will not give 360deg coverage, although most accident situations would probably be covered by front and rear facing cameras. While the Silverado has a Rexing V1P Pro, I will upgrade the other cars to have rear-facing camera to the other two vehicles.

One thing to do is to at least once a week check the last recording made. Prior to getting the Rexing, I discovered that my Silverado's A117 stopped recording just a week before I was t-boned in the Cedar Point parking lot--not that it would have captured that anyhow.
