Does Holley Systemax II stink?
Does Holley Systemax II stink?
I have a 1990 GTA with a L98 and im getting ready to pull the motor, rebuild it, and convert it to carb. I was going to get Holly's Systemax II package but a couple of my friends who have mustangs tell me that for the mustangs, systemax is no good. They said it doesnt make much power at all. DOes anyone know if this holds true for the chevy kit? Has anybody here used this? Would Sportsman 2 heads and intake with another cam be better? I need some feedback cause im ready to rebuild. Thanks.

I don't remember which magazine it was, I think it was Super Chevy. They did a dyno test on the Systemax II kit. They prepped the block just like Holley says to, flat top pistons, zero deck clearance, etc. They figures were around 400 horsepower. I think they even got it a little past. If I can find the magazine I'll post the results and let you know for sure which one it was. I just moved so I have **** scattered everywhere.
I've used it, i did it on a 383 though, but it rocked, the idle wasn't that great, and you definitly need at least a 2500 stall, and the cam sure wouldn't work on a tpi, but I had it on my corvette before I switched to the superram. I still use the heads and like them a lot.

I had it on my 89 camaro, with a 350 stock transplant. I agree with the other post you definitely have to upgrade your torque converter with that cam. We can't hold it at a red light with stock converter. But I was very impressed especially when I upgraded the torque converter.
