Just a heads up I ordered some of the MSD 8.5mm super conductor wires. I have a '91 bird with a 305 with the HEI W/ external coil, both Jeg's and Summit gave me a part # of 31409, these are the wrong wires. I talked with MSD and the correct # is 31839. I guess this is a misprint in the MSD catalog.

But if you need 90 degree boots on your wires due to headers the part number is 31419. I talked to the guy today and this is what he gave me. I guess your number is for straight boots.

Mine had a few 90* but more straight. For whatever reason with my car and motor the MSD book showed these wires

that is why i bought the universal msd 8.5's where you cut to fit an add your own boots where needed. ran into to many of those same delemas over the last few years with aftermarket parts for our cars.

Yeah, I ran into a problem like that. I ordered a set of 8.5mm msd wires for my car 90 formula 350 with tes headers and they wouldn't fit... took me like 15 minutes to explain to ppl at JEGs that they weren't gonna work. I ended up sending them back and buying the universal 90 boot set and made them myself. Worked out pretty well.

Hey unless there is one already... someone should make a Tech article on how to size, fit, boot and crimp wires, would be very beneficial to all.
