I am so happy. I was just given a 1989 5.7 GTA . My brothers good friend was the original owner and has driven it sparingly since taking delivery from roslyn Pontiac in new york. He had lost interest in the car some time ago and left it on the side of his house since 1997. I plan on building a suitable mule for under the hood (400 plus inch stroker)and Modifying the rear and trans. HERE IS MY ISSUE. The inside of the car was described to me as a TERERIUM. Basically the elements have had the opportunity to find its way into the car. I would ask all of you 3rd gen guys to give me a hand. I am told that the drivers seat needs to be recoverd and the carpet and console are shot! Where can i get a new GM prefferably carpet and console, as well as skins to recover the beige leather seats. I want to keep the car appearing stock. The body is pin straight but needs new paint. All emblems are intact and perfect. Any help given is appreciated. If any of you folks need help with a new pontiac or parts please drop me a line.

 

ah crap my post didnt take, anyway if the weather got to the interior check under the carpet for rust since it is sure to be there. after you take care of the rust you can check with yearone, npd and classic industries for carpet, seats and what not for your ride to make it look just like the day it left the plant floor. you will have to pull the carpet to get to the rust anyway so you can either see how bad it is now or when you pull it all out and get a nice surprise.

cool deal on the gta..i ordered a year on next genaration catalog i was told they have a lot of 3rd gen stuff in it. cant wait till mine comes in the mail.

Paul: hey i meant it, i have never really liked the looks of most 3rd gen firebirds or to many 4th gen until they came out with the ls1 models and changed the nose. but i have to admit i like the looks of your bird allot and the fact its an 86 means most 3rd gen birds will look good if done right.

 

i looked at year one.. there a little over priced on a lot... i went to get my headliner there, since it was the only place i could find that sold the whole piece, then i joined thirdgen, and then i saw tha hawks has it for 30 less.. and at the time it was on sale... i still didnt get it... im just retarted....anyway... good luck with the carpet...
