what do you think about Randy's ring+pinion
Hey guys,
I came along this website (pretty sure someone posted a link here in the past): http://www.ringpinion.com
I am curious what people think about this company. I went on there and they had a PDF document in their master overhaul kit page, but PDF was corrupted. I called them eariler today and the guy was extremely pushy. He didn't ask if I have any questions, he just started with my car, engine, what rear I have now, what gears I want later, next thing I know he is telling me that it is $305 and if I give him my card number, he will have it shipped immediately from his tennessee warehouse. At that point I had to stop him, and explain that this is my research phase, and the car will need a lot more than just a rear. I was just curious why the link doesn't work and how I can get a hold of that document.
He told me he was going to have a tech person look into the link right away. 9 hours later it is still not working.
Another thing I don't like is the image the guy gives with the ring gear over his head. Looks very cheesy and reminds me of The Wizz from Sinfield ("Nobody beats me 'cause I am The Wizz"). But it could be his company and he doesn't have the best marketing sense.
I spoke with sales rep and gave me $305 for ring/pinion gears and complete overhaul kit plus warranty that will keep replacing gears for free no matter what I do to them. He told me aftermarket gears are made by Yukon which is the best aftermarket gear company out there. Is that even remotely true?
Should I deal with these guys?

I just ordered gears from them and the guy I talked to was one of the best salesmen I have talked to. I called for info, and he stored my info in the computer so that when I called back he remembered me.
I think Yukon is a good gear for all around street performance, but he told me if you were a serious drag racer richmond are the way to go because they are softer and take shock better (but wear out faster on the street).

There good
Randy's Ring and pinion has good quality parts and services. You will occasionally get a bad apple in the bunch, but what company does that not happen at. I have put in there parts in two cars with no problems. As I understand it there main facility is here in Everett Washington. They are a good company. And yes the balding guy under the ring gear is Randy and it's his company. Hope this helps.
thanks, guys. I wasn't even sure if they were bad, but I had a few doubts. Like they say, 'take everything with a grain of salt' and when you see a guy with a gear tiara... well, to me that's a little... :lala:
