Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I just bought BMR lower control arms and panhard, I went with them because of your PITA build lol. Although I did get two of the flared bolts from spohn off of ebay because BMR don't sell the hardware for their panhards. Hope they come in a timely manner and all is well. Going to pick up my new rear end tomorrow.

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I have no problems with there products. I have many of them on my car. Although one time I placed an order for $1500. I emailed them and said one of the end links they sent me was bad. I got a reply that told me to pick one up locally because they're cheap. This was a good 4-5 years ago. But rubbed me the wrong way a bit.

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
1. Spohn Subframe connectors... no problems...
2. Spohn Steering rebuild kit... no problems...
3. Sphon Tubular A arms.... Problems...
Moved wheels back in the well, rubbed when in back when turning.
Called them, directed them to post with pics, etc...
No call back, no email, no nothing... I contacted them twice. No reply ever.
Put my stockers back in, no problem...
Sold Spohn A arms to someone who had their K memeber and it moved the wheels forward in his wheel well!
& it wasn't just the $500 parts... Labor to remove stock, put in Spohn, alignment, then pay AGAIN to have the procedure reversed. Then sell my Spohn part I just paid $500 for for $200....
No more money wasted with that company...
I understand some people have not had problems, good for you, but I did...

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I've got to come to the defence of spohn. A long long time ago I came across their website and ordered their panhard rod / lca's. They've withstood the test of time, so when I decided to make my camaro a dedicated track car, it made since to stick with spohn. Now I pretty much have their full catalog. Everything arrived in a timely manner and every single part fit like a glove. I'm a diesel mechanic by trade and specialize in chassis work, so this kind of work is second nature to me. I've seen a lot of rookie mechanics, or sometimes veterans tackling a new job, struggle. Its not always the parts that's the problem, sometimes its the person installing them.

I've never tried tubular arms on a stock k-member.

My A arms moved my wheels too far back and made them rub. Bought the UMI arms and they centered my tires again. Also Spohns bolt kit was worthless as well. When tq'ing bolts to GM specs the spindle to knuckle bolts snapped off. Spohn told me the bolts were not made to handle that torque and told me to do 125lbs. I said F that and put the rusted old GM bolts back on there and got the reading I wanted.

if your buying a cheap third-gens that needs lost of work, chanses are that the car has been beat hard! so every thing has been flexed, bent, and, jumped.
so it could be a combination of bad car & not knowing how to install.
if every thing you put together you have to use a big hammer and a jack, your doing something wrong!

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I agree with you on camaros being beat hard. I think I'm one of the lucky ones. My father bought my camaro brand new in 92 and he gave it to me back in 99. Never been wrecked and only has 94k. Definitely helps a lot when you know you've got a chassis that's straight and true!

My BMR A-arms were on my stock K-member before the LSx swap (when I got a BMR K-member too). They fit excellent and the wheels remained nice and centered like factory. Never had any experience with anyone elses A-arms though.

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I have there adj lcas, lca brackets (2 sets actually on 9 bolt and 10 bolt), tq arm, k member, a arms, and etc. I might pick up a panhard bar from founders or spohn depending on where I can find the best deal down the road.
I've had some stuff that bolts right on and some stuff that takes some work. It mainly depends on the car IMO. Each car will have slight variations as soon as it comes off the line it's not like these things are CNC'd precisely, especially after this many miles.
My BMR wonderbar didn't line up correctly. Was that a BMR issue? No, it was only off by 1/2" or less on one side, meaning the front end of my car was slightly tweaked. I enlarged the hole and all was good.
My Spohn K member didn't fit. After some cursing and moving it around I found the passenger side sheet metal was hanging down a little too low. A couple swings from the ballpeen hammer to get the clearance it was all better and bolted fine.
My Spohn Tq Arm didn't clear my long tubes with Mufflex Y pipe. Little bit of cutting an a ding in each of the pipes fixed it.
Some of the things such as the Spohn A Arms moving the tires off center makes my scratch my head on how it can happen. It's hard to tell without exact measurements.
Overall I'm pleased with Spohn Products. Their Live Chat feature on the website is very handy. I bought a used Spohn K Member and was missing some bolts. I got on the chat room asked the rep and they ran out into the shop to verify the sizes. I went to the local hardware store and picked up some heavy duty bolts. My issue was resolved without waiting on the phone.
Back to the topic about providing bad information on the website. That sucks maybe they missed it when they built the page. Maybe they just left it off who knows. This website is a great resource to use, good or bad. If someone looks here they can see there was fitment issues by the original poster then they can move to decide if they want try it anyhow, modify it to make it work, or make another choice.

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
I ordered from spohn several times and have always been happy with my order. Parts are top quality, and reliable. although i agree they should post on their site that there is or may be fitment issues with dual fans customers should always take into consideration that part of using aftermarket parts is making them work. i do feel youre over reacting a bit over the situation. people make mistakes, and sometimes the wrong parts get sent out.

Re: Avoid SPOHN Performance
Has anyone had issues with the powder coating flaking off their parts? My LCA and track bar are in terrible shape for only being a couple years old. The red powder coating has bubbled and is now flaking off. I am going to take a few pics and send them off to Steve and see what he has to say. They look like thy have been on my car for 50 years.

BUT... I have a feeling it was PC'd without proper surface prep. Like it was flash rusted before it was coated. I never contacted them, because it was so long after purchase I didnt figure they'd do anything. I was just going to clean em off and spray em or use POR-15 on them.
