i bought a pair of headers at a swap meet for 50 bucks and they have 3 bolt flangesat the ends, they look like id would just be able to weld header collectors onto the existing exuast pipe and bolt the headers to that, but i hear a lot of talk about custom y-pipes for 3 gen f-bodies

any help would be much appretiated

I have a custom y-pipe on mine because they were generic headers so they didn't make a y-pipe for any application.

Yeah, it's a kick in the teeth but you do need to have your muffler shop make you one. You might want to draw it out for them, cause some do a pretty sad job.
