Cruising around the boards I can see that there are many of you out there that have had problems with MSD's product. I'd like to start this off with a little experience of my own.
I've had 2 MSD boxes on my 89 IROC. The first one was an MSD-6BTM, the current MSD Digital 6 Plus. I have been having trouble with my ignition system for awhile and to date it still isn't fixed. At first I contacted MSD about my problem concerning how the caps and rotors were fouled up very quickly, to the tune of 2-3 days.
The attitude of MSD's reps is a very reproachable one in this experience, and I had to pay the long-distance telephone charges for the 4 phone calls to boot just to add to the A$$-chap factor.
The representatives did not listen to me, despite telling them that I had already done exactly what they were telling me to do each time before that I called them.
First off, let me state that MSD is a Shameless Self-Promoter of their product.
Each time I called them I told them I had everything brand new MSD, wires, cap/rotor, distributor, ignition box, all except for the brand new Accel Supercoil and NGK plugs.
But without fail, they always suggested one of their products I already had.
Like that was going to fix my problem.
Everytime I called them, they sent me on another wild-goose chase. Their attitude is "there couldn't possibly be a problem with OUR product", and it's written on the installation manual:
"Our research indicates that most problems are due to improper installation"
What a crock of ****.

Switch to Mallory. That's what I use and their service is excellent. MSD has a huge ego.
