i'll back that 100%.

that's rediculous. i'm only 17 and work in a retail environment. even i have more sense than that manager.

i've bought some things at i think their lombard, il store before, and never was really pleased with the service. now, i have no intention to return there.

NEVER EVER GO TO A PEPBOYS... for christmas my aunt bought me some tires from their. Well they put on 75s <the car calls for 60s and I asked for a low profile>. We since I had them and needed to drive 800 miles i didnt notice that they had the wrong ones on until mile 400 when my fenders juted off. So when I got back to my home I put on some old 15 inch rims I had <i was using 14s on my trip>. I take it to pepboys, explain how they screwed up and they told me it was my fault because obviosly the 15 inch rims is what caused the problem <b.s> after countless times explaining that 15s came with the car and had the right size rubber on them they just kept to their lame story.

There aren't too many pepboys in cincinnati, but I will post this over at the greater cincinnati f-body website sometime tonight.

Brad (administrator)

I apologize if I erred by posting this in different forums. I did it on purpose as I thought it applied to all the forums topics.

You really didn't need to be so rude when you closed them out. It was an honest case of bad judgment. Sorry

Anyways...as far as not going to any Pep Boys due to one incident at one particular store....

If thats the way they allow their employees to represent their company, then I say we go to a company that hires knowledgeble employees that also have some training in customer service.

If this topic didn't apply to other forums, then it wouldn't have been in there. I'm glad it was for a short time at least, as it obviously got more response then from being in just this one forum.

All Pep Boys employees are brain dead (at the two stores I've tried). I've given them the benefit of the doubt and gone back again and again for 4 years. No more. They have wasted so much of my time and many trips to return the wrong parts. They don't seem to care if they have my business or not - and they have officially lost it!!

I go to Kragen where there are a nice, knowledgable, and professional group of people working.

No rudeness or ill feelings were intended on my part, so if it came across that way I apologize. I understand you wanting your message to get publicized as much as possible, but we try to keep as many posts locked into one area which seems to be most appropriate for said post. Keep in mind, with every click of the “Submit” button, you are costing us money in bandwidth and storage space. My point, however, is not to sit here begging for sympathy or money. I just want you to understand our viewpoint .

i say down with pepboys. my friend bought some tires from them last summer for his 87 iroc. it took them like 3 hours to put them and and balance them, and when the guy that works there pulled his car out, he did a massive burnout with my friends car! we were both really p!ssd so we told the manager about it. of course he acted like it was no big deal and just had his stupid employee apologize for burning out. so once again i agree that pepboys blows

Today at Pep Boys on West Broad st. Columbus Ohio. I needed 8 Plugs for Vortech heads and guess what they had every 5.xx plugs but the just as good 1.xx plugs there were only 4 for a v-8. Service was Poor there knowledge was poor and the place was filthy.

I rarely shop at pepboys because of problems I have had there and I don't like the prices, but you guys should understand that every once in awhile some idiot kids will get hired at any store. Sometimes idiot managers get hired too. I do think that action should be taken towards this manager and any employees involved, but an all around boycott doesn't make sense unless each person boycotting the store has a particular reason for disliking that particular store, somewhere there is probably a pepboys with knowledgable and friendly associates. Personally, I have been boycotting the local pepboys for almost a year, because they refused to honor a lifetime warranty part I purchased there, saying it was customer abuse. In my OPINION, if you dislike your local pepboys, don't shop there, if you haven't yet had a problem (you probably will eventually), but give them a chance. One bonehead manager shouldn't have the power to screw it up for the rest of the managers of stores who may have worked hard to get where they are.

I work at a competing auto parts store, we get costomers that come in all the time complaing about the service they got at a Pep Boys. Most complaints are about how little the employees know, or how they never seem to have the parts they want.

Pep Boys accused me of stealing, too. Ever buy (or see) a "universal puller set"? They come with a "ducksfoot" puller (3 bolt or 2 bolt operation), a thick center bolt, and about 30 assorted smaller bolts. The smaller bolts fit a range of things to pull (such as harmonic balancers). Every store I visited was either out of 'em, or their sets only had the two-bolt puller, so I started driving out of my way to find one. I found a bunch in a Pep Boys... the crowd looked like more of the "show/style" bunch than the mechanic bunch, so that's probably why.

I brought the thing up to be paid for, and the lady started pulling the bolts out. She says to me "you can't just put these in the bag. You need to pay for them." I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and said, no, they come with the tool. She told me they most certainly do not, she knows that they don't, and I'm not getting away with it. So I got a manager ASAFP... he was on her side! Finally I walked his butt back to the tool aisle and started throwing puller set after puller set at him (literally), and loudly announcing how I didn't steal, all of these come with bolts, and what kind of store is it that doesn't know their product line?

I haven't been back to that chain since. I'll go to others, but not that one, which is, for the NJ guys, on Route 1 North. If I didn't need the tool that badly I would've left it here.
