biased towards miniram?

there has been alot of talk about the holley stealth ram,and its ability to support 383 an larger smallblocks.one member talks alot about the fact that the hsr only flows 275 cfm,he got his info from an unoffical holley site.how do weknow it flows 275 ? we dont. this site just claims it does.if any1 has any flow testing of the hsr id love to see it. maybe it flows 300 cfm maybe 320 cfm. i agree lookin down thru the intake it has choke points ,cant these points be fixed? of course it can,head porters do it all the time.a mini ram comes standard with a 1204 match or a 1205 or 1206 but they only hold this size to about 1 inch up in the port.to the people who think the hsr is lacking in stock form, you might be right but if ported from the bottom of the runner exit where the intake gasket meets cyl head to 3.5 inches up into the port where it meets the d shape part . now hold this area to a 1205 gasket an wala a huge increase in area. is the arguement that even a modified hsr cant feed a 383 or 400 inch engine. modify the hsr like this and fix the d area also an do you think it wont support the power. of course it will. now does any1 have any flow numbers on the miniram? that are real an not just lookin down thru the ports. who thinks a hsr wont support the same hp as the miniram when ported correctly? ok now will the real myron cottrel please stand up i know your here or one of your flowbench henchmen. i know your among us the bashin that the hsr takin is unjust an can only come from one of its competitors

Re: biased towards miniram?

sure i can get 325 cfm thru a hsr but the heads aint gonna flow that anyway . so theres your choke point.one other thing old myron was able to get 470 hp at flywheel in a 383 with 18 year old cam an head tehnology with a accel superam, surely a hsr will outflow a accell superam. an the heads flowed 260 cfm all done on his own dyno

I'm all for the HSR, and it definitely depends on the heads to bring out it's full potential. If there were a way to mate the HSR to a set of SB2.2 heads, problem solved....;

SB2.2@ .600"

Intake/Exhaust

380 / 276

Re: biased towards miniram?

^ It's really a very funny story, was supposed to sell off my '98 Trans Am today, and instead, I came home with an '86 Z28 (just got my hands on it today, Click Here). It came stock with an LG4, and I'm definitely going to keep the carb, albeit a blow-thru carb. Right now I have loads of parts to throw on in preparation for the turbo. Everything is pretty much a go, but I need to get my hands on a Motown 454 short block and a T88 turbo charger (got the heads, intake, carb, tranny and rear all ready). Hoping to get her done by the end of July....

I'm not sure that it's biased. It's simply a proven intake. HSR is ok too for a lot of near stock cars.

The whole thing has been beaten to death. Repost with some tech.
