Hey guys..I just got my 383 stroker with a TPIS miniram intake dropped into my 1991 formula this last week and got everything hooked back up. The car used to have a TPI 305 in it. Now i no that ECM/Chip or whatever you call it wont work with the new 383. Now my question is, is i want this thing tuned in the best it can be tuned..I have 600 bucks and i want to put it to good use. Where and what should i buy. I was thinking of just buying the chip from TPIS where you have to send in all your specs and they custom make one for you. But i have a feeling i will need more tuning then just that. I was also thinking of getting a base tune chip from pcmforless.com and then taking it to a local dyno shop and having them do the rest of the fine tune stuff. Please help me out guys and lead me in the right direction!!

 

I had my car on a dyno made about 3 passes. I left the shop with the dyno sheets and gave it to pcm for less. they made a chip and the car it runs great!

 

Where in iowa do you live. When I went to school in southern minnesota, I just drove my car to TPIS and they tuned it there. It is about 1.5 hours north of the iowa minnesota border. Try that

 

Cody, do you have a laptop and do you want to learn how to DIY tune? If you have a laptop you can be into tuning for the sume of about 300 bux. That's software, a wideband O2 sensor, and the needed hardware. You won't have to burn chips either. They make emulators for our cars that plug in where the chip was in the ecm. This all allows for real time on the fly tuning.

Just depends if you want to overpay for a chip that "could" do okay or learn to DIY and get the max out of your setup.
