The seller says it was supposedly a prototype SLP intake. Can anyone clue us in on what this is?

I couldn't tell you exactly, but as the seller says "prototype" I highly doubt it.. Bigger companies ALWAYS try to prevent slightly tested prototype products from even reaching the public, even if it was an employee.
Same way how Ford crushed the first new Shelby GT500 "prototypes" if you'd call them that, due to it just being for research, and not having a VIN at all.
What it really looks like though is a stock throttle body intake from a 90's GM truck. Who knows, I definitely would not buy it without even knowing simple specs on it.

I think it's a Maytag!

i vote prototype of some kind.
the reason is because it has absolutely no "finishing" done to the casting beyond what is needed to judge performance.
it looks like an LT1 intake that is completely smoothed over to me, with a hint of TPI mixed in

Lets see some more pictures of it... Any closer up? I would like to see some pictures of it installed. Looks like you got a pretty good deal on it!

It looks very similar to the short ram intake SLP made in the early 90s. You might even try sending a pic of it to SLP and see if they can find an answer for you.

isnt it a ram jet with the round throttle body like that???
Supreme Member
The Ram Jet is a lot narrower. But it does run the LS style throttle body.

can you take the plenum off and take a pic of it? I'd really like to see the lower runners.Originally Posted by Twin_Turbo

When I get it I will although I think it's a 1 pc cast deal and the plenum doesn't even come off. Looks like the big allen heads on the side are for retaining the fuel lines, the one behind the TB...no idea
Hopefully I'll have it sometime soon.
As for the TB, looks like a TPI TB to me too. Would have been nice if it was an LS style TB since i have a super fueler setup for that kind of TB. Will have to get a plate for a TPI. Used to have an old TPI fogger setup but sold it. That would have been excellent, easy enough to drill for the injector...then again...I might still have the plate...hmmmmmmmm

That bolt behind the TB led me to believe the plenum was removable. I was wanting to see how large the ports of the lower are to compare them to the HSR.

Have a HSR to compare to so I can make comparison shots if needed

That ramport sure lookes a lot like it, apart from the way the fuel rails mount and the fins on top of the plenum and the fact that the ramport is closed on the sides, the one above is a sort of airgap design, there's empty space under the plenum.

Well..it's in customs hands as of today, they will sit on it for 2 weeks to see how much they can tax me for...but after that it'll be mine [evil laugh]hahahaha[/evil laugh]
I'll take some large & details pics of it and compare to stealthram, miniram and stock TPI.

I have a Stealth and a stock TPI, and it's nothing close to either of them. It is super interesting though. I didn't know there were so many alternative intakes until I started reading this thread.
