he had an old set of 1 3/4 long tubes on it for the dyno pulls..I'll have 1 3/4 SLPs on it in the car.. Yeah I'm very happy with the numbers especially the torque

10.5:1, 4 bolt 383, Brodix 200Ik heads, Comp 280 XFI 230/236 .576.571@50,Comp roller lifters, CP forged flat top Bullet pistons, Eagle forged rods, Eagle 4340 forged crank, Comp magnum pushrods.
As far as the tune, the engine was run up on the engine dyno outside the car using Lawrence Racing Engines Dyno and FAST setup

Re: SuperRam 383 Dyno #s

very nice. i was hoping to make like 460-480hp and equal tq.
our engines are almost identical too which makes me smile
9.8:1 ported HSR, 58mmTB, Partriot 195cc heads, XFI 280 comp cams, LS7 roller lifters, comp pushrods, 1.6rr, scat cast crank, forged scat rods, SRP forged -16cc dished pistons.
I got no traction at the track but with bald crappy crown victoria 225/50r16 tires i was able to push out a 13.5 at 111mph and a blew 2 lifters a snapped a rocker stud lol. given my MPH and that it was still pullin at 5500 i should be in the high11s with good traction. id like to see how yours runs

how does the XFI 280 cam run? mine runs like butter. i tuned it myself so i got the idle to be around 800-850 and idles like a rock and maybe will fluctuate 50rpm or so. How much idle are you pullin at idle? im at like 10-14" depending on if im in park or drive.

Re: SuperRam 383 Dyno #s

Strange that they gave you a ton of numbers in the 4400 RPM range, and how the first sheet is high RPM at top and low at bottom, and the bottom sheet is reversed RPM order. Was that how the pull went, and they gave you the logged data vs time? If so, maybe it doesn't have inertia correction factors as the RPMs climbed rapidly at the end. Without inertia correction factors, the torque drops as RPMs climb rapidly (and torque would increase if the RPMs were forced to drop). With inertia correction, the numbers would look better (correctly better) and be normalized to a steady step test (even though performed during a sweep test).

If they had inertia correction on, then, well, your numbers are what they are. The dyno software should automatically correct for it, but who knows. There might be a few real ponies at the top that you didn't get on your sheet.

For my job, I always do step tests, though. It's really fun letting the engine sit at 6000 RPM for long periods of time. We even do 300hr WOT 6000 RPM tests...

That low end torque is absolutely amazing, especially considering how big your cam & heads are. Absolutely stunning. That car is going to be a boatload of fun.

Re: SuperRam 383 Dyno #s

Im sure you had the valve spring upgrade done right? Those heads have a max lift of .575 and your cams intake side is at .576. The upgrade would have set u right at .600

yeah, My engine builder did up grade my springs.. I dont know what PN# he went with but he spoke to Comp and they came up with a duel spring that would support my 280XFI and let me keep my retainers. I was going to get behive but they seem to work just fine so guess my builder and comp got it right.

Good stuff Dude

How are your rpms around 70mph. Until I go 6 speed, I am battling what gears I wanna run with a 700r4. I thought 3.45 would be ok, but Im still up in the air over it.

Re: SuperRam 383 Dyno #s

Wow, those are quite amazing. I'm around 9.5:1 with my 383, and I'm still researching a budget-friendly head setup, but I think I've settled around the cam you have (went with one much smaller to start with and performance is dismal at best for a 383).

26" tires with 3.73s and a 700R4 would put it around 2400rpm at 70. 27" tires would be about 2275.

Does anyone have any thoughts on a set of RHS Pro Torker (Vortec) heads in the 170cc flavor?

I know this is kinda old. But curious if anyone has a similar combo but with AFR 195’s. Have my engine on the stand for my GTA.
