I'm planning on building a 355 with vortec heads & a first tpi system. Gonna keep the compression around 9:1 for pump gas. Can't decide what cam to go with. Want to have at least 350hp, would be happier closer to 400hp, but I don't want to sacrifice driveability and gas mileage. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

As a start you could look at https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...st-builds.html

post #5, just keep in mind the results are with ported vortecs and they have been modified to allow extra lift. I believe stock vortecs are limited to .450 lift.
Some info on porting https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...sbc-heads.html

If you have a pre 87 block going to a roller camshaft will add about $500 to your costs.

If you do enough searching on this site you should get a good idea of what you want to do.
