what to expect 305tpi to lt1 intake or superram

a freind loaned me a superram plenum and runners will be hooked to a stock base manifold only thing is i hate the way it looks trans pan on top of the engine will it help my 305? or should i not bother

i have a pretty much stock 90 lb9 305 with
edelbrock headers flowmaster catback
and 1.6 roller rockers 3.23 gears
pulls good with tpi 14.1 - 14.2s consistently
except on the freeway it has some trouble
so im gonna try the super ram 1st will this help or hurt?

there is an ad local for a converted lt1 intake with waterpump hookups and fuel rail and 21lb injectors
would this be a good idea?

i could stand to lose some low end tq as it just wheel spins even when hitting 2nd

only reason im thinking lt1 intake is i have lt1 roadmaster wagon that pulls like crazy on the freeway also runs consistent 14.1s hooker dual exhaust stock manifolds and k&n cold air i like how it pulls harder and harder as the rpm rises unlike tpi how it as crap load down low and runs out of steam around 4800

mind you im comparing a 3400lb car with 3.23 gears to a 4600lb car with 2.93
the wagon spanks the camaro on the freeway all day long
but stop light to stop light the camaro wins every time

so would an lt1 intake be good for a 305 ? keep stock tpi or superram ?
i have the super ram on loan so im gonna try it anyway i just have to buy a gasketset and all the bolts to put it together they where lost in a move

im not doing a 350 yet as i plan to save up to do it right but i can get the lt1 intake cheap and the superram is free on loan till whenever

currently im makeing around 194 hp @ 4600 and 256 @ 3300 tq going by my dyno sheets should be 242 hp flywheel 320 tq flywheel
my wagon is making around 233 hp @5200 and 285 tq @ 2600 rwhp stock was 260 hp and 335 tq flywheel now 292 hp and 357 tq flywheel
i figure if an l99 made 200 and 240 with crappy intake ducking and crappy single exhaust
would i be safe to assume 250 and 305 with lt1 intake? thats what the vortec marine 305s make the stock vortec engines seem to make about the same power bands as the tpi engines

atlest i think im doing the flywheel conversion correctly ad 25% to rear wheel numbers or yank 20% off fly wheel numbers to get rear wheel end up with the same numbers atlest

If your getting 14.1 out of a 305 thats not that bad it's probably best to leave it but if you want some higher revs then the superram might work ok, just not sure if you will see a improvement at the track. I would stay away from any short runner intakes for the 305, you want some runner to make up for the less cubes you have plus it probably would hurt your times to.

I think his Buick Roadmaster Wagon runs 14.1s... With the stock base, I wouldn't bother with the Superram.

Re: what to expect 305tpi to lt1 intake or superram

both cars run 14.1s camaro is all 1/8 mile and wagon pulls the 2nd half like hp vs tq im looking for the camaro to pull harder on the top end like the wagon does .

ill be doing a 350 in the next year or 2 . so trying to save money to do it correctly ie build it how i want it to be so im just wanting the 305 to run harder on the freeway .

from a stop light its fun and its fun on the corners but i want to "GO" on the freeway.
thats my freind loaned me the super ram but thinking it would hold me off till i do a 350swap or lt1 swap depends if the wagons body holds out or not i love the wagon on the freeway and i want the camaro to be the same i figure even with it makeing less overall power it should be able to react the same way if you know what i mean

i know using the stock base isnt going to match the super rams overall flow but would it just kill my engine ? ie bog it or will it let me pull to 5200 because of the shorter runners
i also understand the super ram is ment for far larger engines but will it help or hinder me overall i love the way tpi looks and love its low end but i feel its over kill sometimes reason i was thinking the lt1 intake i figured it the l99 4.3 baby lt1 made 200hp im sure a 5.0 with pretty much the same cam should do something in the middle of it and what the lt1 does .

i dont mind if i lose some lowend aslong as its still streetible

there is a lot of times where the wagon feels slow until it "comes on the cam "
the 305 dosnt have that problem but its a much lighter car it feels like its on the cam from the start but falls off just before i would like it to
